Dear Alstott and Sasaki Families,
I was so sorry to read of Becky's passing, and my heart goes out to all of you. Becky was a wonderful person, beautiful inside and out. She always reminded me of Grace Kelly with her cool, classic good looks. I, too, remember her wonderful laugh, as well, and found the note from her classmate Dennis so touching.
I have such fond memories of my childhood days on seventh street with Becky, Marlene, Gary Flamini, Jack Gleason and others. Mr. and Mrs. Alstott were so kind to all of the neighborhood children and their house was always the most popular destination on the block! I have never forgotten the warmth and generosity they showed all of us. I recently found an old diary that described some of those joy filled, carefree days. The entries included a slumber party at Becky's where we wore our coats over our pajamas and took pictures at the Lincoln statue at the Capitol and other various places around town, daily bike rides, playing jacks for hours, trips to the library and dime store on North Grand Ave., stories of Teddy, Sarah and baby Mark, watching baseball games at that field by Memorial Pool, taking the bus downtown, and even a note about Mrs. Alstott giving Becky a permanent on their front porch!
I had not seen Becky for many years but always heard of the happy life she had with her husband, children, and grandchildren, and I am so sorry for your loss. I recently read a quote that touched me, and I am passing it on to you here:
"During this time...there will be hugs, there will be tears, there will be people who don't know what to say, and some who can still make you laugh. There will be pictures and keepsakes, memories and stories - some you've never heard, and some you could never hear enough. There will be sorrow, there will be celebration, but, most of all, there will be love. The kind that never ends."
Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
Sincerely, Meg Moore Smith

I knew Becky only a short time, sixth grade Ridgely School. She sat in the row parallel to the east facing windows. I was in the second row, my desk directly across from hers. Being a shy country boy, school was a place I often dreaded going to, that is until I met Becky. One thing I remember very clearly about Becky is her loud spontaneous laugh, often at my dumb answers when she graded my quiz papers. But what really stands out in my mind is her encouraging words of support and positive feedback, something I had never experienced before from a classmate. In those few short months she left an impression that would stay with me for a lifetime. There is no doubt that she similarly touched the lives of countless others over the years. My thoughts and prayers are with Becky's husband John and all her family and loved ones.
