Raymond Podwika Obituary
Raymond A. Podwika, DDS, age 86, a resident of Plainfield, IL and a former longtime resident of Palos Park, IL, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2025. Raymond is survived by his loving children, Deborah, Kathleen, Raymond, and Michael (Michelle Langlois) Podwika; his cherished grandchildren, Rebecca (Pat) Fitzgerald, Chelsea, and Isabella Podwika; his sister, Mary (Richard) Mach and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 59 years, Theresa Podwika; his parents, Walter and Stella Podwika, and his sister, Mildred (the late Florian) Suchocki. Raymond was a proud U.S. Army veteran and was honorably discharged as a Captain in 1969. He earned his degree from Loyola University and was a successful dentist for 42 years. Raymond was very active with the Chicago Dental Society, serving as President 1979-1980, and the Chicago Dental Arts Club. Visitation Wednesday, October 1, 4:00-8:00 PM at Overman-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, corner of Routes 30 & 59, Plainfield. Prayers will begin Thursday, October 2, at 10:00 AM at the funeral home and then proceed to the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM at St. Mary Immaculate Catholic Church, 15629 S. Route 59, Plainfield. Interment will follow at Risen Lord Cemetery, Oswego. For information call 815-436-9221 or visit
