Raymond Hederman Obituary

Hederman, Raymond M. Loving husband of the late Mickie (Albright). Beloved father of Patricia (Warren) Fehlauer, Diane (John) Grzeczka and Michael (Colleen). Dearest Papa of Timothy (fiancee Kathleen), Michael, Kathleen, Colleen, Elizabeth, Megan, Erin, Bret and Patrick. A Veteran of WWII Army Infantry, proudly serving his country in the D-Day invasion of Normandy Beach. After the war, a brief stint with the Illinois Sheriff's Police (Deputy Sheriff, retired) was followed by a 30 year career with the Chicago Police Department. Retiring from the CPD in 1976, he served as Chief Clerk of the Probate Division of the Circuit Court of Cook County. Ray then returned to serve the city he loved as Assistant Manager of Chicago Midway Airport for 18 years, working in cooperation with several prominent governmental agencies, including the United States Secret Service. Ray was a proud member of the Fraternal Order of Police, National Sheriff's Association, Illinois Police Association, VFW Post 177, Lifetime Charter Member of National WWII Memorial, Amvets Post II 18, Hamburg Club of Chicago, the 13th Ward Democratic Organization, Leo High School Alumni Association and the University of Louisville Alumni Association. His 50 years of service was highlighted in 1995 when he received the prestigious Kathy Osterman Award. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him and his legacy will live forever.
