Remembering my cousin Ray today and every day especially during this time when the Chicago White Sox are at the ballpark. The lovely days of summer when Ray enjoyed the games with his sweet children and grandchildren. Miss you cousin.

So… My son asks me if I have ever done any political work and I told him, yes, indeed. I worked for a man that I admired back in the early 70s, hoping to have him elected alderman. So I retreated to my attic to find my only political file which contained news clips, campaign literature and instructions to those who did canvassing.
And lo and behold, I found the campaign song that I wrote for Ray, "Never Canvass on a Friday Night." I decided that maybe Ray would like to have a copy and I went looking for him. I was not expecting to find this. I know that at my age I should be looking at the obituaries. I can't remember seeing this though.
Ray was principled, magnanimous, and among the brightest people I had come across in my youth. My condolences to the family, though they be belated.

Dear Marilyn and family,
I can't believe my dear friend Charlotte's first born is gone. I was shocked to receive Larry's call this morning. Ray was a very good friend to the Leavitt family and ARny and I will certainly feel his absence. Sandi

Ray was an honest man, in his love of his family, friends, politics and sports. He was a seeker, and embraced life and stands as a role model for anyone trying to find their way through the twists and turns of life. Do good. Be good. Love and be loved. Legacy of a life well lived.
