So… My son asks me if I have ever done any political work and I told him, yes, indeed. I worked for a man that I admired back in the early 70s, hoping to have him elected alderman. So I retreated to my attic to find my only political file which contained news clips, campaign literature and instructions to those who did canvassing.
And lo and behold, I found the campaign song that I wrote for Ray, "Never Canvass on a Friday Night." I decided that maybe Ray would like to have a copy and I went looking for him. I was not expecting to find this. I know that at my age I should be looking at the obituaries. I can't remember seeing this though.
Ray was principled, magnanimous, and among the brightest people I had come across in my youth. My condolences to the family, though they be belated.
