Polixeni Loupakos Obituary

Loupakos, Polixeni "Jenny" (nee Kapsimalis), our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend passed away peacefully with her family by her side. And entered into the Kingdom of Heaven on February 6th, 2008. She was born on June 17th, 1934 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Panagiota and Polychronis Kapsimalis, of Olympia, Greece. Preceding her in death was her dear daughter, Stephanie Loupakos, M.D. and her dear nephew, George Senopoulos, despite the challenges of her lengthy illness, Jenny lived her life with grace, courage and love. She adored her husband, her four children and her six grandchildren delighting in her role as "YiaYia Jenny." Proud of her Greek heritage she found her joy in the melodies of Greece, in her Greek culture, and in the love of her devoted family. Jenny endured with dignity her life struggle and, in her own special way and sweet spirit, she inspired and gave hope to all those whose lives she touched. Her memory will be cherished by her husband of 51 years, George, their children, Paul (Mary Wanita), William (Roxana), Penny (Dr. Nicholas Karis); her grandchildren, Dimitri, Sophia, Anastasia, Stephanie, Jacqueline and John Karis; her sister Dena (Pericles) Senopoulos, nee Kapsimalis, her sister, Tessie Anne Kapsimalis; her niece and nephew, Pamela and Joseph Collado; and her dear friend Sophia Hadjes, who spoke with her without fail each and every day. Visitation will be on Sunday, 4 to 9 p.m. at Chapel Hill Gardens South Funeral Home, 11333 South Central Ave., Oak Lawn, IL. Funeral service will be held on Monday, 11:00 a.m., with Metropolitan Isiah of Denver officiating, at St. Nicholas Hellenic Orthodox Church, 10301 South Kolmar, Oak Lawn, IL. Interment Evergreen Cemetery. For those who desire to make memorial contributions in Jenny's honor, please direct them to Greek American Rehabilitation and Care Center, 220 North First St., Wheeling, IL. 60090, or St. Nicholas Hellenic Orthodox Church.
