Phyllis Paul Obituary

Paul, Phyllis (nee Baltis), 55-year resident of Riverside and formerly of Western Springs, beloved wife of L. James Paul, adored mother of Deborah Paul-Stewart, Susan (Michael) Kostelny-Woerner, James W. (Ginger), William L. (Susan), Regina (Douglas) Fiala, and Thomas E. (Dana), darling grandmother of 16 and precious great-grandmother of one, dear daughter of the late Walter S. and Marie R. Baltis, fond niece of Winnie N. Ziarko, cherished sister of Joan Lindstrom, Bonnie (Robert) Hutchison, Rita Sheese, and Ruth Carroll, loving aunt of nine nieces and nephews. Phyllis was a Member and Past President of Riverside Garden Club, prizewinner in floral arrangement at the Chicago Garden Show, imaginative Girl Scout Leader and Cub Scout Den Mother, Member of PTA at Blythe Park School, the Riverside Forestry Commission, the Riverside Fortnightly Club, the Riverside Dance Club, and the Riverside Golf Club. A beautiful woman inside and out, Phyllis was known for her striking smile, kindness, service to others, forgiveness, consideration, creativity, intelligence and love of people. Phyllis passed gracefully on December 26, 2008 in the early morning hours and drew her last breath with her husband and children at her side. She will be forever missed by her family as well as many friends and acquaintances. Visitation Monday, 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Funeral Services Tuesday, 9:30 a.m. at Ivins Funeral Home, 80 E. I am so sorry to hear about Mrs. Paul. While it has been many years since the RGC days, I remember her as such a kind person who always had a smile on her face and willing to help any of us. Take comfort in the wonderful memories that will live in your hearts forever. You are all in our prayers.

Your Mom was a very caring person and we enjoyed her at Riverside Golf Club. She ran so many of the swimming events, with a smile and encouragement for all. The Gagliardo Family is very sorry for your loss, but may the wonderful memories console you all.

I was out of town when Phyllis passed away. I have such happy memories of her and what a great mother, always there to watch the Paul Clan swim or play Junior Golf. Know you all have many great memories. She always had a great smile to greet you.

I was especially sad to hear Mrs. Paul’s name at Mass this morning. Her kindness and generosity, which I have been the beneficiary of countless times, was extraordinary. The Paul, Hutchison, & Lindstrom families will be in my prayers.
