57 years ago today Phyllis was the sole witness to my marriage to Gerard Drouet in the Town Hall in Manhattan. Hardly a day goes by that I don't think fondly of her. My biggest regret is that I didn't find a way to travel to Chicago for her funeral. I keep her in my prayers daily.

By a divine coincidence, a friend came upon Phyllis's obituary.
She called me immediately and we were both in disbelief.
We wanted to think it wasn't true. Then we saw her looking beautiful, as always, at the funeral home.
I hadn't talked to her in years. But with Phyllis things like that didn't matter.
She was so welcoming and sweet. She only saw the good in people.
I worked with her at ATA. We had our own little gang at Chicago Express. She was a riot!
Both most of all, she loved her children. While I didn't get to meet them all, I felt like I knew them.
She was a hardworking Irish Woman!!
Talk about a small world, but she worked with my younger cousins at Gaelic Park. She took care of my little mexicans!!
To Phylis's family, I am so truly sorry. She is at peace, but then to me Phyllis was always at peace!
She enriched my life in so many ways, that I didn't see, until now.
Phyllis, I miss you and can't wait to have a pint with you some day.
You made this little Mexican-American, feel like an honorary Irish woman.
The next time I go Dublin, I know I'll have your spirit guiding me.
God bless you, mi Amiga.

I wish to express my deepest sympathy to all the Nestor family. Phyllis was like a sister to me, we didn't talk often but when we did, it was like we never stopped talking. She lived with us in Queens and I remember on Sunday morning after breakfast she would be sitting at the table in her pj's and any time any of us (Donlon sisters) tried to get up she would tell us to stay another while. We talked and talked for hours. Often when we went out on Saturday night, we would stay up all night, go to an early Mass and then go to bed. We laughed so much whenever we were together. I remember when she invited me to stay at the Plaza with her. What fun we had. We put on the terrycloth robes and drank wine for hours. Her Christmas card always said "From Phyllis and Chicks" and this year was no exception. I've been praying for her a lot and hope she is at peace. I also hope the rest of the family finds peace without her, it will be hard.

So very sorry to hear the sad news. Years ago you shared an apartment with some of my sisters in New York and even though I had eight sisters of my own I also considered you as a sister! You always went to see my mother when you were visiting Garrafrauns and she enjoyed your visits. You had such a beautiful smile. You will be sadly missed. Condolences to family and friends.

To the Family and Friends of Phyllis Nestor:
My sincere condolences on the passing of a fun and lovely lady. I hope your memories will see you through this difficult time.
Phyllis and I shared many laughs together when we both worked at Fox’s Oak Lawn Pub. Last summer we ran into each
other at Gaelic Park and laughed again about the “Old Times”.
I am so happy that we had that little visit together but very sad
I won’t be seeing her again.
Sincerely,

I've known Phyllis since I was a little girl. She was always the same, young at heart both inside and out. We had the privelege of sharing special time with her just last month at a family wedding. Those are memories I will never forget. May you rest in peace Phyllis and always know how many lives you touched in a special way.

Phillis was my sister Eileen's best friend. Eileen I know you will miss her a lot. I loved hearing the stories about Phyllis and her love of life.

We are in shock to hear the sad news of Phillis' passing. I can't fathom that her warm smile won't greet us ever again on the south side.
She was the person whose loving, gentle, warmth and twinkling eyes brought the welcome to the Clancy's Pub and Grub for years when we were located at 12th and State. Uncle Paddy and I and our families are grieving with you. Until we meet again Phyllis, may God hold you in the palm of His hand.

To Phyllis's family:
My heart and prayers go out to your family in your time of sorrow. I am sure you will hear this over and over and you all know this....Phyllis was an Angel here on earth, a special person who was kind to all that came in contact with her. I will always remember her big smile and her warm heart. I was privledged to be her Manager at ATA Airines and can truly say she was one of my alltime favorite employees and I am also happy that I took the time to tell her that! All of the employees at ATA are brokenhearted, but know that she is in Gods hands and receiving the rewards that she so deserves...
I will pray that your pain softens as time goes on.....
Respectfully,
Carmel Howley

Phyllis: We had many laughs - and cries - together. Thanks for doing my nails all those times in Elmhurst (I still can't do them myself!). I remember you every time I pass the Plaza Hotel as we had a lovely breakfast there one St. Patrick's Day when you were staying there. You were a fun person and a hard worker. My sympathies to your children, grandchildren, brothers and sisters. We will all miss you.

To Phyllis' Family & Friends,
My heart crys with you and for you during this difficult time. I had the privelege of meeting Phyllis a handful of times when she visited with Marc & Eileen over the years. She was a real sweetheart and quite a "hoot" as well. When I heard of her passing my heart fell. I know how much Eileen loves Phyllis and the bond they shared. I've no doubt that holds true for all her family.
My prayers are with all of you. Trust that God knows exactly what He's doing and He will help you through this. "Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted" (Matt 5:4)
All my love.
