Peter Simoncelli, age 82, of Bensenville. US Army veteran. Beloved husband of Carol for 62 years. Loving father of Peter (Donna), Russel (Lisa), Adam (late Penny), Tammy (Peter) Jordan and Michele (John) Ott. Devoted grandfather of Nicolas, Natalie (Kevin) Hereford, Francesca, Nina, Joey, Ashley (Jason) Jusk, Alyssa, A.J. (Lindsay), Ryan, Taylor, John Jr., Sarah and Tom. Proud great-grandfather of Chase Michael. Dear brother of Leonore (late Art) Gabl, Wayne (late Patricia), the late Emil and the late Ed (Louise). Fond uncle to many. Visitation 3-9 p.m. Tuesday at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 301 75 th St., Downers Grove. Prayers 9:15 a.m. Wednesday from the funeral home to St. Joseph Church in Downers Grove for Mass at 10 a.m. Interment Queen of Heaven Cemetery. Funeral info 630-964-6500

Carol and family: we are sad to hear of the passing of your dear dear husband and father. Peter was always kindhearted, always ready to say Hi or care to hear about what was going on in our lives even if he was feeling lousy himself. His gentle ways and that nice smile and a good sense of humour. It was always a pleasure to be around him. He didn't like conflict, was a peacekeeper and analytical in assessing situations. We will truly miss having him around. We pray for your huge loss of his devoted love of his family and companionship. We have been thinking about all of you since we heard the news.
