I extend my sincere sympathy. I had the privilege of being a secretary to Mr. Fazio for a time at the law firm of Chapman & Cutler.

I was shocked to hear about Pete's passing, particularly after having a wonderful lunch with him last month during which he charmed my wife and me with a few stories about his new apartment and his ongoing legal career.

I worked closly with Pete from the time he joined Chapman & Cutler until I retired. I have never met anyone who was more dedicated to helping people or more helpful than Pete. He had great judgment and was the best all-around lawyer I ever met and the lawyer I would want in my corner if I needed legal assistance.

Pete loved people and showed it every day. He was just as kind and considerate to waiters and secretaries as he was to his friends Justice Scalia and Mayor Daley.

My life and the lives of Pete's many clients, friends and acquaintances will forever be changed and diminished because of Pete's passing. We will all miss him dearly.

Our condolences go out to Pete's family and to all whose lives were enriched by Pete.

I work at The Mid-Day Club of which Mr. Fazio was a member. He came to the Club for lunch almost every day. I will miss his smile and wave of his hand that he always gave me.

My prayers are with the Fazio Family. May God Bless You all.

Uncle Pete was my uncle through my wife's family. Even though I was not a direct relative, he always embraced me as one of the family. When I needed him and his advice, he was always there for me and treated me with great love and affection, but with sternness when I needed it. He was truely like a father to me.

His model of how to conduct oneself in your business, family and religious life is something I will always try to remember. His devotion to his wife Marie was a great example of what a marriage should be.

Uncle Pete, pray for us.

Pete was the perfect lawyer and gentleman. He knew virtually everyone at Chapman and Cutler and was beloved by all of us. Everyone, including the person who waters the plants would get acknowledged in the friendliest way by Pete.

We will miss his stories and insights. May we all be both as gifted and considerate as Pete til we reach 94.

To the Fazio Family-

I am an attorney at Chapman and Cutler, and for several years I had an office very close to Pete's. How glad I was to get to know him! We frequently visited in the office, and every once in a while we had lunch together. I always marveled at what Pete knew about life and about people. I valued and learned from his perspective--it always seemed to me to be so rich and full of knowledge. I also greatly admired that he never failed to compliment and express his love for his wife. A simple thing, but to me a sign of class, honor and fidelity.

Pete told me many stories--some about my own grandfather, a judge in Chicago who died before I was born. I heard about his family--how his father was a shoemaker (who never swallowed even one of the nails that he used to keep handy in his mouth) and how Pete didn't have his first pair of "long pants" until he went to college. He never seemed proud of himself or of his accomplishments so much as proud of and thankful for his life and his family.

I was honored to know him and to celebrate part of his life with him.

My thoughts and prayers are with the Fazio family at this time of great loss.

I really enjoyed working with Mr. Fazio. He was so full of life and always had an interesting story to tell. I will miss him. It won't be the same here at Chapman and Cutler without him.
