Paul Lipin Obituary


Lipin, Paul 84, long time resident of Glenview, IL, died March 10, 2008. Preceeded in death by his beloved wife of 35 years, Marilyn, nee Breimeister. Cherished son of the late Bernard and Mary Lipin. Loving father of Mary Beth (Leon) Deutsch. Proud grandfather of Madeleine, and twins Ari and Chloe, and brother and best friend of S. Barry (Judy) Lipin. Mr Lipin was born and raised in Chicago, graduated from Marshall High School and continued his education at DePaul University where he earned his BS degree. In 1940 he lost his hearing. In spite of his handicap he became an Office Manager of Charles Vogel Wholesale Meats, which later became Allen Boss, Purveyors of Fine Meats. In 1957 Mr. Lipin joined his brother, S. Barry, and together they built U.S. Auto Leasing, Presidential Car Rental, Presidential Limousine and Auto Corp. of America. Mr. Lipin retained the title of Executive Vice President until his retirement in 2000. He was also the Director of the Lipin Foundation that was formed to provide funds for hearing research. In all of his endeavors he displayed a strong work ethic and dedication to the task at hand. Services Thursday, 11 a.m., at Temple Beth-El, 3610 Dundee Rd., Northbrook, where Mr. Lipin was a member for over 35 years. Interment Memorial Park, Skokie. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lipin Foundation (for Hearing Research), 291 W. Deerpath Road, Lake Forest, IL, 60045. I was saddened to hear of Paul's passing. He was such a great guy, and a gentle soul. I will always remember him & my days at US Auto Leasing. Paul and SBL taught me a great deal about business (and life in general).
