Dear Janet

I am so sorry to belatedly learn of Paul's passing. Please extend my and my brother John's condolences to your family.

When I spoke with Paul last at the North Shore facility where he was convalescing following treatment I was first made aware of his illness. I felt so remiss having been out of contact for so long, and was somewhat suprised that he was still returning office related calls. But true to form he referred me to an able attorney in his absence.

We spoke of my father's same diagnosis (who had a complete laryngectomy): Paul was so optimistic and sounded so strong.

I am again so saddened to hear the news.

Over the years, Paul not only provided excellent legal counsel but "life" counsel to me. I will remember him as a true gentleman and a man who stood on the promise of professionalism as well as friendship.

All my best to your family and you at this time

Dear Janet, I just found out about your loss yesterday (4-29-30) from my daughter Gina. Please accept my deepest sympathy. I meet Paul in 1995 and he always talked about family and sports (Bears & Cubs) with me and in that order. What a nice and gentle man he was. I never saw him mad at anyone. I last spoke to him right before Christmas 2013 while he was in the hospital. He was upbeat and he knew the facts. I was so proud that he was attorney and friend. When I was down and out, he took me to a Cubs game. He got me upbeat just by being with him and the Cubs even won. His outlook was so positive about everything. I even told him that he reminds me of Paul Newman. I'm truly going to miss him and he is in my prayers. Janet, God bless you and your entire family. Retired Chicago Police Officer Michael J. Gricki, wife Janis and daughter Gina Marie.

Dear Janet and family,

Nancy and I were saddened to hear of Paul's passing. Although he was a few classes behind me he was loved by his fraternity brothers as a genial, intelligent and supportive person. During his time in PhiEp he did everything he could to bring to life all of the principles of our fraternity. Nancy and I send our condolences .

Fraternally yours,

Dear Janet and Family,
I just learned of Paul's passing and wish to extend my deepest condolences to you. I am another fraternity brother who grew to admire and enjoy Paul's sense of humor and intelligence despite his being my "tormentor" during Hell Week. I know he will be sorely missed by all who had any extended contact with him.

Janet, Barbara, & family:

So sorry to hear of Cousin Paul's passing. He and I had not been in touch for some years, but I know he and my Brother Len, who spoke so fondly of him, had stayed in intermittent touch until Len's passing on May 22.

This heartfelt condolence note to Janet, Barbara and all of you is, as he would have wished, from both of us.

Fifty-seven years ago...it's 1957, September, when Paul and I became freshmen roommates: Scott House, South Quad, Ann Arbor. He was an easy roommate. We both joined PEP, pursued our careers, and he and I, and Jane and Janet have managed to keep in touch over the years. I had begun calling him “Paulie” for the last couple decades or so. He never seemed to mind. It just sounded right. He was an honest to goodness, sincerely nice person.

We last spoke about 5-6 weeks ago…just reminiscing…when he started telling stories one after another, many oft told, some actually new. I couldn't even think fast enough to remember any to even try to keep up with him. He had a million, our conversation approached an hour, and he had me in stitches.

Jane and I sent our truly heartfelt condolences to Janet, Adrienne, Karen, and David. Paulie will be greatly missed.

Janet and Family,

Please accept my sincere condolences on Paul's passing. Paul was a fraternity of mine in Ann Arbor from 1957- 1961. Paul was a great guy and as someone else said, he had a very quick mind. I will always cherish those memories.

Paul was a charming, bright and personable individual who was a joy to all who knew him. I had the pleasure of many warm conversations when we were both guests at his cousins', Rob and Geri Friedman, parties. We would often bump into each other at the Daley Center and, despite busy schedules, always had a few moments to share. Paul was truly a "Gentleman Lawyer" who brought great respect to his profession. His passing will be most difficult for his family who loved him very much, but we all lost a good and decent man who made the world a better place because he honored his high values and cared deeply about the truly important things in life - his family and friends.

February 16, 2014

My condolences to the family and friends of Paul Leeds and may all of you find comfort in the scriptural promise at Act 24:15.
