Barrett, Paul F. age 60, entered into eternal life October 15 after a long, brave battle with prostate cancer beloved husband of Annette Love Barrett, devoted stepfather of Johnathan Powell, dear son of the late Maurice and Alice Shorter Barrett. Professor Emeritus, Lewis Dept. of Humanities, Illinois Institute of Technology and longtime part-time driver for American United Cabs Assn. Funeral Tuesday, 8:45 a.m. from Edward Andersen Funeral Home, 3234 W. North Ave., to St. Fidelis Church, 1406 North Washtenaw Ave., Mass 10 a.m. Interment private. Visitation Monday, 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. 773-235-0770.

Paul was a wonderful and inspiring professor. His knowledge of the History of Chicago was incredible.

I'll never forget the way he would come to school in his blue jeans smoking a pipe and talking about his cab driving experiences.

He was a good man and a friend. And, although I haven't seen him for quite some time, I'll remember his conversations and miss him.
