Houlihan, Patrick J. Ret. Batt. Chief CFD Age 77 beloved husband of Kathleen (nee Hammer-Bucholz). Loving father of Deborah L. (Terrence) Soraghan, Brian, Daniel and the late Patrick Houlihan. Dearest grandfather of five and Great-Grandfather of five. Dear brother of Mary (Eugene) Blake-Kenny, Margaret (the late Don) Nicholson, Alice (Frank) Hennigan, Theresa (the late Robert Jorfe) and (Rudolph) Unger, Loretta (the late William) Botel, Michael Ret. CFD (the late Dolores), and Edward (Carol) Houlihan. Fond uncle of many nieces and nephews. Former husband of Carol Mattson. A 38 year veteran of the Chicago Fire Dept. 1959 to 1997, holding every promoted rank from firefighter to Battalion Chief. Retiring as the Battalion Chief at Midway airport. Former financial secretary of the Chicago Firefighters Union Local #2 and Secretary and Vice President of Firefighters Pension Fund. One of the leaders of the firefighters 1980 strike against the City of Chicago, which resulted in a contract for the firemen. A leader and charter member of the Brotherhood of The Barrel. A delegate to the 1992 Democratic Party National Convention. Grew up in the Fuller Park Neighborhood on Chicagos near south Side and was a pupil and longtime mass server at St. Cecelias Church and an avid White Sox Fan. A graduate of De La Salle Institute and held degree in fire science from Triton College. A proud Army Veteran 1954 to 1956 stationed in Germany as a medical technician, a member of the American Legion and the VFW. In lieu of flowers doations may be made to St. Denis Church, 8301 S St Louis Ave. Chi Ill. 60652. Funeral Monday 10:15 am from Thomas McInerney's Sons Funeral Home 7901 South Komensky Ave. to St Denis Church for Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am Visitation Saturday and Sunday 3pm to 9pm. A great friend!! Outstanding Local#2 union member and Chicago fireman! I,was a union steward for 20 yrs and went thru the stikes ups and downs as Pat did! I can go on and on about Pat, he leaves a great legacy and will be greatly missed! RIP PAT! Your friend, Bud Ehrhardt
