Pat Darling (Winkler) went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 30, 2024, at the age of 96. Pat was born in Syracuse, New York, to Harry and Doris Martin, and was married to Robert (Bob) Darling for forty-seven years until his death.
She loved God with a faith and belief that carried her all over the world in ministry. She found Jesus as Savior at a young age and found the love of her life the same. Her countenance was always upbeat (especially when the sun was shining), and she championed for young people throughout her days. For her, life was ministry, and she did it with eager gusto, even in the last days. Her home was always open, and she was an incredible gracious host to those who sat at her table.
The ministry of Word of Life International around the world was her second home for seventy years. She lived, worked, volunteered, and participated in multiple facets of the ministry in many countries.
Pat is survived by her husband, Dr. John Winkler; two of her three sons, (Scott, deceased), Robert "Kip" Darling (Julia), and Dan Darling (Kathy), along with John's five children, Matt, Amy, Mark, Ann, and Abby (and their spouses), many wonderful grandchildren, and an even greater number of precious great-grandchildren.
She'll be remembered for her willing smile, giving heart, upbeat spirit, and her constant encouragement to press on for the cause of Christ.
A Celebration of Life Service will be at 2 pm on Saturday, December 21st, in MacKinney Hall of the The Gathering Place, 420 South Main Street, North Syracuse. Private burial will be in North Syracuse Cemetery.
