My sweet nephew. I remember when he was four, I had not seen him in two years and I said to him, "I bet you don't even remember me". To which he replied, "I know you, you're my Auntie!" His little face beamed with love. I was so touched. Then I said, "what does that mean?" and he said, "You're Daddy's sister!" I was floored with how smart he was for such a little guy. We walked towards the steps that led downward and before taking a step down he looked up at me and said "Auntie, will you hold my hand?" I was almost in tears. I said of course, and I took his little hand in mine. He will always be my special angel. I miss him and I will love and remember him all the days of my life.

When we heard the news, we didn't want to believe it. We heard various stories, so we thought-rumors- We have been so sad as we remember those days at Willowbrook, soccer games and more. Karen, you have always been so sweet and kind, and I can recall how good you were to all the kids in the neighborhood. Neil was a good kid, always friendly and happy. Our love and prayers are with all of you during this difficult time. Remember that he will always be with, and I'm certain he is in a peaceful, fun place. - Poulakos Family

Neil,
During our time together at Maple and GBS, you always struck me with your combination of charisma and kindness. People weren't drawn to you because of you're popularity or your charm (although you had plenty of both), but because of your kindness, your optimism, your joy of life. Though we grew apart, finding out about what happened has really made me realize what an exceptional person you were. May you rest in peace.

I still remember the first day I met Neil, junior year of high school. He wasted no time taking me in as a friend and talking to me like we were friends from our childhood who were just reunited. From there, he always treated me as one of his good friends. No matter what I needed or what I wanted to do, he would help me get that or do that. I never really got a chance to really thank him for that, and although I wish I could more than anything in the world, I hope our years of friendship will always be remembered. Miss you buddy, I know with your personality you're looking over everybody up there.

Neil man we all had so many memories with you. We knew you through grade school, junior high, and high school and from day one you were always one of the nicest, funniest, and true hearted kids we ever met. You always kept it real and kept your sense of humor through bad times. You were really one of a kind. We miss you and will always remember the times we shared together. With love, the entire Willowbrook crew. RIP.

Neil I just wanted to say I always had a good time when we hung out when we were younger. It's unfortunate I didn't see you in the last years of your life, but playing our nerdy little Warhammer game all the time was honestly a blast for me. It always made me feel cool to hang out with the older kids back in the day, and you and Peter were always super friendly to me. As young as I was, I knew for certain that you were a genuine, good-hearted guy.
I Know we may have drifted apart in the past couple years, and regret of that will stay with me. Regardless, I'm thankful I got to know you.
My heart truly goes out to the Fine family.

Neil,
When I miss you sometimes I cry, sometimes I laugh at all the crazy things we did together, but most of the time I just think about what an IMPACT you had on my life and smile.
? I had so much to tell you...
? But it never came to words...
? I wish I would of told you...
? That NO ONE can take your place...
You changed my life, you touched my heart, you made me feel whole again. I'll never truly understand why you were taken from me so soon but I would not trade our time together for the world - you allowed to to experiance true happiness, love, and compassion. The patience and support you showed me was amazing- you taught me how to love, live, laugh--you were my rock. You ARE my rock. I love you..its not goodbye cause I know you are with me always. I love you ? ? ?

Dr. Fine, Karen, & Peter-- I love you guys so much, I am truly honored to have spent time with Neil, he was an amazing person. I am so grateful that he brought such amazing people into my life like you =)

Neil was a close friend of our son Tom in Keene. We were all immediately impressed with Neil's gentle nature, common sense and open heart when we first met him. Tom, who knew him best, will miss him most, but we all join in offering our deepest sympathies and hopes that many good memories will ease the pain of your loss.

I taught Neil here at Keene State College last spring, and he made such a difference in the class. More than his fine intellect and his ample writing ability, it was his sensitivity and willingness to help the other students that stood out. I mourn his loss, and my heart goes out to you.

Dear Fine Family
I taught Neil while he was a student at Carlbrook. Like so many of my students, I fell in love with Neil's radiance and the way he could light up a room with his big smile. Neil became like one of my own children and my heart has a hole now that he has been taken away way too soon.
Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers as you begin the difficult journey of life without such a wonderful son.
Peace and Blessings,
Tammie Saunders

Fine Family, I attended Maple Jr High with Neil what seems like such a long time ago. I was in the band program with him and I am sad to say I hadn't spoken to Neil in a long time. I wanted to tell you that people from that long ago still remember Neil. He was always so much fun to hang around the band room with. I will always cherish the memories I have of Neil. My thoughts and prayers are with your family. Love, Megan Shipp

Dr. Fine and family,
I was so sad to learn of your son and brother's untimely death. My heart goes out to you at this time. I recall on one of my appointments shortly after you had returned from a conference in the Middle East, Neil had accompanied you to Dubai. You described that trip and time together in such a warm and enthusiastic way. I remember being so happy for both of you that you had enjoyed a wonderful time together.

Take care of yourselves at this time.
Kindest regards,
Anne Ryan

I had the pleasure of growing up with Neil as a role model. He was often at my house or I at his. He was a leader. He was someone that I wanted to be like. He was like another brother to look up to. I will love him and his family forever and always. I hope that they find the courage and strength to help them through this difficult time.
