I only just learned of Nate's death through Bethel University's alumni publication, The Focus. I sorrow with your family in this great loss. We had several classes together and I remember being in awe that an upperclassman took notice of me. Nate was kind and funny and sweetly quirky. I'm grateful that I have such clear memories of studying together and sharing our Bethel experience.

To Heather, Elliott, Gavin, Nates Parents, Sister and Family,

I just heard the news about Nate. Unfortunately, not soon enough to have been in attendance at his Funeral. For this, I am disappointed.

I worked with him for a time a few years back while in a position as Distribution Manager here at Northport Engineering. In that capacity, I became very close to many at Bergquist with special emphasis on the distribution sales and marketing departments, which is of course where Nate spent his time. We didn't work together a great deal but we did know each other fairly well.

About 2 1/2 years ago I accepted a position with another company owned by Nothport Engineering and, moving forward had no further reason to call on Bergquist. I'm now in a totally different industry. I do, however, remember Nate very well. I liked him a great deal and am very upset by the news of his death. My sincerest and most heartfelt condolences to all of you.

I lost my Father at age 15 and, I also know just how hard this can be. There are no words of wisdom I can give you that will help you cope with your loss other than to say that all that any of us can take with us in the end is our personal legacy. This being the case, Nate was a very rich man. He was a great Son, Father, Husband, Friend and Co-worker. He conducted himself as a gentleman and, a caring human being. He was liked by all that knew him. I only hope to do as well myself.

I know you have no idea who I am. I'm just some guy Nate worked from time to time but, in a way, that really speaks to what I am talking about here. With the limited exposure we had to one another, he still made a lasting impression on me. An impression that has followed me through well past our time working together. To me, that says iy all.

With Deep Sorrow,

NexLight/Northport Engineering

Heather, Elliot and Gavin- I am so sorry to hear about Nate. He always added a special fun energy to our ski team. I remember skiing at Lutsen with Nate and the gang many years ago and have many fond memories from then. My thoughts and prayers are with you in this difficult time.

Heather, Elliott and Gavin,

I am so sorry for your family over your great loss of your Husband and Father. Oak Grove Elementary will miss seeing Nate weekly at school - in the office checking in and out, serving lunch, on field trips and at all the other school events.

Elliott and Gavin were always so excited and proud that their Dad was at school so much. All of their friends liked having Elliott and Gavin's Dad at school too.

Nate was such a GREAT and involved Dad, just as you Heather are a great and involved Mom.

I hope you will find comfort and peace in your precious memories and photographs and videos that you have.

Maxine informed me this morning of Nate's death. I am so sorry to hear this. I have cancer survivor's syndrone right now over this. I survived, Nate didn't. What a neat guy. You can be proud of him and his family. It was fantastic to see your family photo in your Christmas greeting and seeing espically Nate and Nina. Words are hard to find, but Maxine and I love you and have appreciated your friendship through the years. And the happy memories over goat milk. We have two here for old times sake.

Love and our sympathy, Jim and Maxine Sheldon.

There are people in this world who touch the lives of others. They don't do anything in particular and you can't put your finger on what it is about them. They just impact you in some way and you don't forget them....for me, Nate was one of those people.

My prayers are with you Heather and your family....sincerely, Katy
