Nathan Diamond-Falk Obituary

Diamond-Falk, Nathan 67, of New Buffalo, Michigan, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, May 14. Born in Fall River, Massachusetts, he lived most of his life in Evanston, Illinois, where he raised his two children with his wife, Judi. Nate was a passionate father, husband, and lawyer. As a criminal defense attorney, he advocated vehemently for those who were usually let down by the justice system. He also found joy as an adjunct trial professor and coach of the trial team at Northwestern Law School. Nate loved music, animals, and watching his Black Hawks and White Sox. Nate was extremely proud of his two children, Brian Diamond-Falk; and his wife, Katie Diamond-Falk (née Steele); and their children, Zevon, Oliver, and Veronica; and Emily Diamond-Falk and her husband Alex Horowitz. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Judi; his adoring children; his proud parents, James and Audrey Falk of North Dartmouth, Massachusetts; and his loving sister, Deborah Augarten (née Falk) of Scarsdale, New York. The family will hold a memorial and celebration of Nate's life on Wednesday, May 17, at 1 p.m. CT at the Weinstein & Piser Funeral Home at 111 Skokie Blvd., Wilmette, Illinois. For information on a gathering afterwards, call Weinstein & Piser at 847-256-5700. Due to his lifelong passion for justice, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Southern Poverty Law Center, www.splcenter.org.

Nate was a great guy. I clerked for him in law school. When I came to the interview for the job he pointed to his credenza which had little plastic figurines of the Hanson Brothers from the movie Slaphot. He asked me if I knew who they were. When I correctly identified them he hired me on the spot. He will be missed. Walk Em!!!

May your memories replace your grief. Loosing someone we love hurts. Please take comfort in Psalms 29:11, knowing that in difficult times like this, God gives peace and strength.

Dear Judi,

Gordy and I were both very sorry to see that Nate had passed away. We wanted to express our sincere condolences to you and your family. We remember fondly spending time with both of you visiting at both of your homes, dinners out and esp. seeing Bette Midler together when she was Miss M. Nate had a great sense of humor and we will remember that too.
You and Nate had a lovely life, and we hope that all of the wonderful memories of your life together, raising your children and celebrating their marriages will help you during this sad time.

Kindly, Diane and Gordy
