Nat Rosasco Obituary

Rosasco, Nat C. A much-loved husband, father, grandfather, and son, Nat C. Rosasco, 83, passed away peacefully at his home November 1, 2012. Nat, born in 1929, was a lifelong Chicagoland resident and involved in the golfing industry for over 75 years. Nat was the owner of Northwestern Golf Company, once the largest golf club manufacturer in the world. Through the mid-1990s, Northwestern Golf, the company founded by Nat's father in 1929 and run by Nat since 1961, had sold more golf clubs than any company, ever. There is one factor that separated Nat from most family owned business executives. Nat was a man who believed that a simple approach to business is best and a man who had never forgotten where he came fromor the hard work that it took to accomplish everything he did. However, success in the golf world is not the only attribute that defined Nat C. Rosasco. Nat was a firm believer in philanthropy and using his means to help those in need. Nat was the founder of the Nat Rosasco Heritage Cup Youth Fund, which raised millions of dollars in college scholarship funding. He also helped start the Hook a Kid on Golf Foundation and donated to the West Palm Beach Children's Golf Foundation. Over the years Nat has helped thousands through his generosity and contributions. His many acts of kindness have also been acknowledged via his induction into the National Italian American Sports Hall of Fame and Chicagoland Sports Hall of Fame, amongst a variety of other awards and accolades. Nat's impressive accomplishments in the golf industry and generosity to charitable causes aside, nothing made Nat happier than spending time with his family. Nat was beloved husband of Eleanor, nee Sirboff; loving father of Terri (Pat) Santoro; cherished grandfather of Patrick, Michael and Ronnie; dearest friend of Sasha and dearest caregiver, Janette. In lieu of flowers, donation appreciated toAmerican Diabetes Association. Funeral Monday, 10:15 a.m. from Peterson - Bassi Chapel,6938 W. North Ave., to St. Giles Church. Mass 11:00 a.m. Visitation Sunday, 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Cemetery Private. Info: 773-637-4441 orwww.petersonbassichapel.com

Eleanor and Terri, I am very sorry to hear about Nat's passing. I was thinking of your family recently and googled Nat, and saw that he had passed. We have wonderful memories of our visits to see your family in Chicago and especially my trip alone to visit Terri when we were young girls. Again, I am very sorry for your loss. Sincerely, Nancy DeVries (Zambito)

Dear Eleanor and family,
I want to send my deepest sympathy to you for your loss. Although Nat and I had not kept up on the last few years I always remember what a friend and mentor he was to me in the early days after my dad died and mom and I took over the business. We made lots of good clothes for him, a passion of his. Mostly though, for his compassion for others and always a thoughtful word. In the last few days I had been thinking of him, a cousin called me in China where I am tonight; so I thought I would send a thought. God Bless you.

Dear Elenor and Terry,

I am deeply saddend to learn of Nat's passing. I will always remember his generosity and smile. You may remember me as the kid who worked in the factory and then helped Ed Barton when he ws decorating your fabulous home in River Forrest. I was just a college kid at the time and was so impressed with your family and the business. As I entered the business world I tried to emulate Nat's genuine concern and support for the people who worked in the factory. What a great example he provided.

My prayers are with you.

Eleanor, Terry and family,
I was so sad to hear of Nat's passing. Even more sad that I could not be there. Nat was a true mentor to me, but the relationship quickly turned to a long lasting friendship. I will be out of the country for another week. When I return, I hope we can meet so I can pay my respects in person. I will miss him.

I can remember the days when mom used to drive to the shop to pick up daddy, and Mr. Rosasco would come out and say Hi, First Nat, then Mr. LeRoy. He was such a nice man. It is a great loss you have suffered, may there be peace in knowing that there will be no more suffering, and that he now will watch over you, waiting til you meet again.
