It has been two years since we lost Nan. Not a day goes by where I don't tear up thinking about what an immense tragedy this is. Cate and Margaret are such beautiful little girls and I see Nancy in them more and more each day. I will forever keep Nan in my heart (and in my cell phone).

Peter, Catherine, Margaret, McLinden and Carr Families -

Words cannot express how sorry I am for your loss. Anyone who met Nancy, even if it was just once, never forgot her. Her smile, friendliness and ability to make everyone comfortable were a special gift. She had a wonderful sense of humor and she was so much fun to be with. There are very few times in our lives that we meet someone who has that kind of impact -- someone who makes you feel so good and so happy. Nancy did that to everyone she met, personal friends and casual acquaintances -- she will be greatly missed.

The Faith that binds your family together and the closeness you share inspires others to live their lives meaningfully, every day, always remembering we are part of something bigger than ourselves. The moments I shared with members of your family are ones that shaped my life. Nancy and Sue opened their arms and included me as part of an extended family. Nancy holds close to the heart, a fun-loving, hard working spirit. She remained true to herself and showed others how to realize their dreams. What my heart would give so that this world and your family wouldn't have to suffer such loss. You are in my unending prayers. Semper Fi,

The Carr and McLinden families are being overwhelmed with God's love, the prayers of thousands, and the service of hundreds of their close friends. It is helping us to keep Nancy's bright light lit in our hearts and her big smile in our memories. Please keep praying for all of us (and there are a lot of us) as we need an abundance of prayers to somehow, someday, accept this huge loss from our earthly lives. Pray that we may all eventually accept her loss without anger and bitterness. Pray that we may continue to follow her bright light, reflecting the light of Christ, to her new home in the tall grasses of heaven. We are forever grateful and humbled by the outpouring of support for Peter, Catherine and Margaret. THANK YOU SO MUCH. We have never seen so many tears, nor felt so much pain, or witnessed such a powerful community of Christian service. Please know that we feel so blessed and comforted in our deep and profound sadness by that outpouring. Keep praying with us to keep our hearts open to continue receiving the abundance of love and prayers coming our way. May we all keep Nancy's bright light burning in each and everyone of us for Catherine and Margaret throughout the years.

I've been grieving Nancy's death since I heard the news and as incomprehensible as it seems now, I unfortunately will swallow the truth one day. My love and compassion go out to not only my good friends the entire McLinden family, but to Peter and the girls and the whole Carr family and everyone who has felt the pain of losing Nancy.

The sadness will linger forever, but I have to remember what a remarkable person she was and will remain.

Nancy was the quintessential heroine. Much more than a Hollywood type heroine since they could never capture who SHE was in a 2-hour movie, Nancy was so much more real than moviemakers could ever invent. Her entire being, her every decision and action and comment should lead us all to answer “Nancy McLinden Carr” to that interview question we all someday are put upon the spot to answer “Who is the most inspirational person in your life?”

An outspoken and witty charmer; the best friend you always dreamed of (she dished the truth like you didn’t really want to hear it then told you how awesome you were in the next breath); the stellar athlete and brilliant thinker that had accolades wallpapering every room in her soul; the positive leader that won you over with her genuine sense-of-self and the world around her; the beautiful wife and mother who loved unconditionally her entire extended family, her sisters and brother Billy, her parents Bill and Marge, her friends and co-workers and anyone she crossed paths with at random. She was the real deal wrapped up in a big toothy, dimpled smile and red hair and her loss is the most powerful and gut-wrenching emotion I've ever experienced.

My thoughts and prayers go out not only to the wonderful McLinden and Carr families, but to everyone whose lives have been touched by such a beautiful spirit we know as Nancy McLinden Carr.

Side Note: I've added a never before published picture of Nancy in Boston to the picture section of the guestbook. She is 17 or 18 years old and on "free time" at a National Futures Tournament for field hockey, an invite only event for the best players in the country. Deirdre (Dee), her younger sister, was also invited for a younger age group. McLinden = Great Athlete. Nancy has climbed on a statue of Red Auerbach, former Boston Celtics coach, for the picture. I miss you Nance, you, your corniness, your big heart … you will never ever be forgotten.

Nancy was-a bright star- a glass of champagne, or fresh squeezed lemonade. She was all the things that you can think of to describe the best of days. I smile to think of her in the office- bursting with -"Hi how are ya's" and "Oh so good to see you". And she meant it. And, as a friend noted-Nancy's fashion comments "Nice necklace, cute shoes..." She was a breath of fresh air and so much more. She had depth, integrity, and passion. She was and may she always remain, a sign of hope to us all. Love endures. Bless her, and all who love her.You are in my thoughts and prayers.
