Nadine Walker Obituary

Nadine Reed Walker, 90, of Haileyville, died Sunday, Dec. 13, 2009, at her home.Family will greet friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home in Hartshorne.Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Hartshorne with Dr. Rudia Halliburton and the Rev. Richard Dixon officiating. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery in Hartshorne. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Brumley-Mills Funeral Home of Hartshorne.Born Jan. 26, 1919, at the ranch home of her grandparents near Elida, N.M., she was the daughter of Mary Etta Stevens Reed and James Arthur Reed. Her father preceded her in death in October 1918, three months prior to her birth. Two years later the family moved to Kansas, where they lived for several years before coming to Oklahoma.She continued her education and graduated from the School of Nursing at the University of Oklahoma. She married Eugene Preston Walker. He held positions for her company in Kansas City, Mo., St. Louis, Mo. and Pittsburgh, Penn. before returning to Oklahoma.She was a longtime member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Hartshorne. All of her immediate family preceded her in death.Survivors include grandchildren, E. Preston Walker III and spouse, Shelly, of McAlester, and Brian Lee Walker, St. Louis, Mo.; daughter-in-law, Johanna Walker, St. Louis, Mo.; nephew, spouse and their children, Sean and Karen Blundon, Hannah, Rachel and Rebecca, and an extended family of nieces, nephews, church family and friends.Pallbearers will be Terry Rich, Larry Hall, Doug Rose, David Russell, Bill Everett Russell Jr. and Steve Clemente.She was preceded in death by her husband in June 1989; parents; brother, Kenneth Reed, and son, Eugene Preston Walker Jr.
