Mortimer Shine Obituary

Shine, Mortimer A. Age 91, late of Sterling, Alaska and Scottsdale, Arizona, formerly of Glenwood, Harvey and Chicago Heights, Illinois. Devoted husband of the late Bernice (nee Petersen) Shine; adored father of Kristine (Horst) Boenisch of Sterling, AK, Teresa Shine of Oak Lawn and Tim (Linda) Shine of Wasilla, AK; cherished grandfather of Elizabeth Ann Shine (Brandon Moore); dear brother of Gerald (Eleanor) Shine and the late William (late Dorothy) Shine; devoted son of the late William and the late Mary Shine. Mort was a 1941 graduate of Bloom Township High School and a WWII Veteran. His career as a funeral director spanned over 50 years serving at the W.E. Kerr Funeral Home in Harvey and as a partner at Spindler-Koelling Funeral Home and Hirsch Funeral Homes. He was past president of the Chicago Heights Lions Club, a member of Knights of Columbus and was a parishioner at St. Kieran Church in Chicago Heights and a former member of St. John Church in Glenwood and St. Ann Church in Chicago Heights. Mort was also an avid member of the Maricopa Live Steamers in Arizona and Illinois Live Steamers. Visitation Tuesday, September 30th from 9:00 a.m. until time of prayers at 11:30 a.m. at Heartland Memorial Center, 1340 Otto Blvd., Chicago Heights to St. Kieran Church, Mass 12:00 noon. Interment Assumption Cemetery, Glenwood, IL. The family is requesting masses or memorials to the charity of the donor's choice.
