Morris Kawamoto Obituary

Kawamoto, Morris T. Age 81, died peacefully at home on April 25, 2017. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Amy and his son, Rick (Linda). He is also survived by his sister, Betty Dunn of St. Louis, MO; brother-in-law, Kizio Haruta of Escondido, CA and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, George and Jean Nishi of Seattle, WA. He was a fond uncle to many nieces and nephews. Morris served in the United States Army in Germany. In 1979, he started Kawamoto, Inc., a window covering business and was successful for 28 years until his retirement in 2007. His son took over the business and continues to run Kawamoto, Inc. Morris' passion was fishing. He often said he was happiest when he was out on his boat on the Big Lake. Morris' interests were wide ranging from fishing, golfing, astronomy and classical music. He loved doing the Sudoku and crossword puzzle every morning. A lifelong Cubs fan, he was thrilled when they won the World Series last season. Visitation on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. Memorial Service to follow at 2:00 p.m. at The Buddhist Temple of Chicago, 1151 W. Leland Ave., Chicago, IL 60640 (773) 334-4661. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
