Milton Banton Obituary

Milton Frederick Banton left us on Friday, September 13th, 2013. He was born in Manchester, Jamaica on the 17th October 1947, the fifth child born to the late Rupert and Winnifred Banton.
Milton attended the Christiana Moravian School and from there he went on to attend trade school in Kingston, Jamaica. In 1968 he accepted employment with Alumina Partners of Jamaica in St Elizabeth, Jamaica and worked there for about five years. In 1973 whilst still in Jamaica he married his childhood sweetheart Veronica Mayne. Later that year he migrated to the United States to be with her. There, the union produced two children, Michael and Samantha.
Milton resided in Ossining, New York with his wife and children for most of his life. There he established a construction business in 1984 and was later joined by Joseph Forde in 1997. Joseph became not only his business partner but his trusted friend and confidante.
Milton was a man of substance and integrity who surrounded himself with people of similar qualities. He worked extremely hard to provide the best for his family. He was kind and generous, always going the extra mile to help others. He enjoyed gardening, cooking, golfing and family time. He was known for his sense of humor and his gift of storytelling.
Milton's passing will leave a great void that can never be filled. We will all miss him immensely. The world has indeed lost a treasure. He is survived by his wife Veronica, children Michael and Samantha, sisters, Mopsie and Patricia and brothers, Hixford, Gauth, Dalwin ,Alluard, Paul and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

On behalf of the Clarkes of Mollison, Manchester (Jamaica W.I.), I extend heartfelt condolences to Milton's family. Milton's parents were well respected in our community back in those when I was a little girl, and although so many years have passed, I still remember their love and kindness towards us. Rest in peace, Milton.

Deepest sympathy to Vonnie, Michael, Samantha and the rest of the family on the passing of Milton. We did not know him for a long time but from all accounts he was a family man, a man who trusted God, and a man who had his hands extended to those in need. Only time will heal your loss, but rest assured underneath are the Everlasting Arms of our Heavenly Father in whose busom he now rests.
Sorry I cannot travel even to New York at this time, but know you are all in thoughts and prayers.

Love always.

Doctor, Dor and family join in your grief. We have fond memories of last year summer when Milton visited us during his illness in Brooklyn. Due to circumstances, beyond our control, we are unable to attend the funeral services and pay our last respects. Rest in Peace, my brother, may light shine on you perpetually.
