Dear Rogers Family,
Hello my name is Diana Jordan and I went to Horace Mann School with Mike, Peter and Suzy. I just learned today of his passing and I wanted extend my condolences and prayers to you all, his wife, and kids. Mike used to call me Skippy ( because I was so much shorter than him) and that was one of my favorite nick-names and childhood memories. He was also one the kids that never picked on me because of my disability and that meant the world to me. I was touched when he reached out to me and we reconnected on facebook. I unfortunately missed notices when he passed so I am writing today. I will continue to keep you all in prayers.

Peace Be With You All,
Diana E. Jordan

I had Mike Rogers as a professor at Chicago-Kent College in 2004. He taught a Saturday morning class on using computers and other technology in the courtroom. Despite the day, and the early hour (8:00am), He was such an interesting and engaging teacher that I never missed a class, and made sure to show up early. I would venture to say I learned more from him that I have applied in my daily practice, than any other professor at the school.

Personally too, he was someone who was impossible not to like: brilliant, funny, self-deprecating, and full of amazing stories of life well led.

It is a tragedy that so bright a light is snuffed out so soon. My deepest condolences to his family, but if it helps you in your grief, remember there are hundreds of students whose lives he touched for the better, and we'll all carry some small part of his flame inside us.

Dear family:

I have just learned of my brother's passing. I became real ill on the 27th and just read about Mike. He made me a better attorney having to try cases against him. He was a REAL friend and I will miss him so much. Cordelia and kids, if I can help I will as soon as I get well.

Love,
Judge Darron Bowden

There is immediately less laughter in the world. Although once my boss, he was at all times my teacher, mentor and friend. As is the case with so many others, he helped me in too many ways to mention. I am so sad he is no longer with us. My thoughts go out to his family.

To the Rogers family--Mike helped so many people during his life. He was best at being a public servant and when those days disappeared he began to do the same. His life was a triumph, his death a withering tragedy.Comfort yourself with the thought that he is already well-known in heaven. TEE ,LaGrange

I remember like it was yesterday running through the Krawzoff's yard and off the fence onto the roof of the Roger's screen porch and along the big cement pool playing hide and seek or G.I. Joe. No cares in the world at that time. Pete, Susie, Mark and Mr. Rogers, I'm sorry to hear about Mike. I'll be thinking about your family and wish you strength and good memories.

Buck, Nina, Cano, Calum and Cordelia,

I was lucky enough to count Mike as a good friend for 15 years. I started as one of his students and eventually taught with him. He was a brilliant trial attorney. He was also a fabulous teacher who was unbelievably generous with his time; always available for consultation for former students.

As our paths crossed over the years, there were many long dinners with great stories and many laughs. The stories were not always about courtroom exploits, there were many tales about his family. He was so proud of all of you.

More than anything, I will remember Mike as the most giving of friends. Every conversation or email always had him asking, "do you need anthing?" He would give you the shirt off his back. I will miss his friendship, his brilliance and his wonderful laugh. The world is a far better place for his having been here.

I grew up with Mike and Pete. Christmas and New Years were either spent at their house or ours for years. He and his brother were among my closest friends back then and Mike and I remained friendly throughout the years we practiced law. I've met few who had his sense of humor and warmth as well as his utter fearlessness.
Words fail me in offering my condolences to his wife and children and Dr. Rogers, Susie, Mark and Pete. These following words are not mine in origin, but I can think of no other which so thoroughly convey my meaning:
"I pray that our Heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost."
God bless you all.

It is so sad that Mike is no longer here. He was a wonderful boy to grow up with in Oak Park. I have many fond memories of playing and talking with him. Buck, Nina, Cano, Calum and Cordelia,

I never met you though because of the way my friend Mike spoke of you and in such detail over the 11+ years of our freindship, I feel like I have always known you. His face would light up, his smile grow and his eyes sparkle whenever he spoke of you.

I spent time with my friend in many places: Columbia, S.C.; Charleston, S.C.; San Antonio, TX; Chatanooga, TN; NJ and NYC. I treasure each and every moment I spent with him. While we were several states apart we were always close. We spoke often and as often of all of you. We taught together, laughed together, smoked cigars together, commiserated together and shared our pride in our families together.

I still remember the first day we met back in 1998 - how within 4 days we were fast friends. I never knew anyone like him and I doubt I ever will again. His easy laugh, his generosity, his willingness to do anything for people he just met - he never ceased to amaze me. I am blessed to have known him and to have him consider me his friend. While I will always be grateful for the time we spent together, like you, I will always wish there was more.

I guess I just want you to know that others, all over this country, knew how great my friend Mike was. A special person - a truly unique individual.

I lost a friend and a brother. I will miss him always. I hope and pray that all of you can focus on that bigger than life personality of his and use it as an example of how to gain the respect, admiration and love of others. God Bless you all.

Goodbye my friend.

I met Mike through his consulting work at Ronin and as a technology lecturer at Kent. I am truly sorry for your profound loss.

Mike was my partner in Judge Themis
Karnezis's courtroom many years ago and although it was his first felony trial division assignment, he was an amazing prosecutor. He never cowered by the amount of work, was always eager to learn and was incredibly talented. Through our many months of working closely together, I came to know the softer side of Mike and we became dear friends. He was always loyal, compassionate and very dedicated to his friends, family and the pursuit of justice. Mike also had
the ability to make you laugh when you were at your lowest point. I remember the many "pig roasts" he hosted in his garage and the numerous happy occasions we spent together. Mike, you were a wonderful man and I will miss you. I'm honored to have called you "friend." To all of his family, my thoughts and prayers are with you during this very sad time.

I will remeber Mike as a wonderful teacher and friend. He was so good because he cared so much about his students - and there were so many of us that were in one way or another his "students". He shared his insights and expertise with anyone willing to listen. He had an inexhaustible energy for helping others. Although the generosity and empathy could be cloaked by a tough guy exterior - there was never a doubt that, if you were lucky enough to be his friend, he always had your back. His talent and energy were a gift to us all. He will be missed by so many. God bless my friend.
