To The Kilcoyne Family:
My deepest thoughts and prayers are with at this sad time. I will never forget Mike. I will always remember when John took me up to MN and we stayed with them. It was a great trip. I remember Mike from when I was little, and he was always so nice and kind especially to children. He was a person that was a pleasure just to have known. Mike will be missed.

Dear Kati and family:

I will like to express my deepest sympathy for the death of your loved one, Michael. I will like to share with you some comforting words; "Death will be no more... 'He will wipe out every tear from their eyes and there will be no more mourning..."

This is a wonderful prospect for those who have fallen asleep in death.

May the Kilcoynes family draw their strength from God's Word as you mourn the loss of your loved one, Michael.

Kati,

I am so sorry about your loss. Everyone who knows him will miss Mike Kilcoyne.

I've been thinking about you and Mike every time I'm outdoors doing what we all love on the bike/water/trail. I'll miss seeing Mike skiing at Baker and will shed tears on the trail in his memory for sure.

I've known you and Mike from a good 20 years of sporting, summer and winter. When I check the results after a race, one of the first things I look for is where did I finish compared to Mike. I reckon I must have had a super day when I could better Mike's result.

Mike is the kind of guy you see racing at your first Giant's Ridge with duct tape holding his boots together, going strong. Mike is the kind of guy you see at Baker on a beautiful winter afternoon, skiing with one pole because his arm is injured. Mike is the kind of guy that passes you on the bike with a loose rain cape flapping in the wind, letting his legs do the talking. That kind of spirit, determination, dedication and obvious love of the outdoors is contagious. We would all do well to be like Mike.

To the Kilcoyne Family:
I never met Mike in person, but spoke to him many times over the years. Mike was always willing to help me, if I was in a "pinch" or just needed a file uploaded for a customer. I knew him on a professional level and he always lived up to a standard of excellence and I am sure he lived the rest of his life in the same way.
Our thoughts and prayers are with your family.

To all the Kilcoyne Family,

It's been many years since I've seen Michael and all my memories of him are as a kid in grammar school. Michael was always one smartest people I knew and reading now of his wide variety of interests, some things never change. His death is a great loss for everyone, but his life was a blessing to so very many people. My prayers are with all of you.

Kati,
I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I can't imagine how hard it must be for you. I never knew your husband, but I remember you talking about him to me during our nice long skis, and I know he was an amazing person. I'm sorry I never found out about his loss until now, since I've been away. I think you are a wonderful, and enthusiastic woman, and you are a great coach. I know that you are strong and you will get through this tough time. I want you to know that you and Mike are on my mind, and I'm am praying for you.

Katie, every time we ran or roller-skied passing your place, we were thinking whether we would run into you and Mike on the trails. I am very fortunate to get to know Mike through you and Melinda roller-skiing last fall , even though I have been seeing Mike race duathlon and xc ski races in Bemidji and TC quite a few times. Katie, you have Mike's kind and fun-loving spirit in you. We'll miss Mike very much, and we'll see him in you out there forever.

Kati,

So sorry to hear this news. Mike and I had a lot of great battles at ski races over the years. I think we split the victories over each other 50/50. I will miss Mike and his competitive spirit.

To The Kilcoyne Family:

I have never met Mike in person but on the other end of the phone he seemed like someone that would do anything for you. Many of my customers had the pleasure of working with him as well. Especially those on Citrix. He never got frustrated (as far as I could tell) and he always corrected the problem. He helped me out of several situations and still took my call even if it was five minutes after the previous call.

I'm sure you know this....but what a great guy!

I knew Mike through the Aitkin paintout in 2007. He won a award along with many of us. I am so sorry for the families loss, he was a nice man to talk to. He was a upcoming artist also.

To the Kilcoyne Family,

Even after 5 years have passed that Mike was my co-worker, the news of his passing both shocked and saddened me deeply. Mike was always quick to greet you with a smile and always eager to help out with anything that he could. I remember he always seemed to be training for something and I loved hearing his stories about his events.

Although no words can truly help to overcome loss, trust to know that during this time of sorrow, you are in the hearts, thoughts and prayers of many people....

Katherine Himes

August 4, 2008

Dear Kati,

I just saw this announcement, and I want you to know that you are in my thoughts. I have many fun and happy ski memories of Mike, including the year the two of you coached me in high school. Mike was trying to teach me how to open field, and I remember telling him that all I really needed to know was how to V1. He patiently explained (while being surprised!) the importance of open field on the flats at French Park!

To Tom and Ma Kilcoyne, Cathy, Geri, John, Jim, Gerry, Paula, and Joanne,

Tom, It's truely unfortunate that I only had the opportunitiy to see Mike on the very few holidays that we were lucky enough to see him, the holidays that I spent as part of your family. After reading all the posts from all the people who's lives that he touched I realized that I missed knowing a wonderful man!

Dear, dear, Kilcoyne family, I want you all to know that I am so sorry for your loss. I have no words to express just how much and you are all in my thoughts and my prayers.

Ma, to you, I don't know what to say, except that I love you and you raised Mike to be fine man. I will always remember Mike as being kind, very much like you! You, especially, are in my thoughts and prayers.

My Deepest Sympathy,
Linda

To Mike's Family-

I've learned a lot about Mike by reading all of the posts. What an incredible man. The Mike I knew was kind and humble, extremely intelligent and could solve any problem. I've known Mike over the many years we've worked at Red Line/McKesson --- and I've never seen a frown on his face, or heard a harsh word from him.

As a sales rep, I was always happy when Mike answered the help desk line! I knew I was going to get the guidance I needed and I could count on a few laughs along the way. Mike visited several of my customers and they were so impressed by him and enjoyed getting to put a face with a voice.

The employees and customers of McKesson will miss Mike tremendously. He was truly one of the good guys.

With prayers and my deepest sympathy,
Mary Bloomquist

Dear Katie and Mike's family,
I always think of Mike with a big smile and a positive attitude about whatever he was doing--it was always motivating to be around him and share our passion for skiing, triathlons, running and the joys of life! He definitely lived his life to the fullest, just not as long as we would all have guessed with his superior health and fitness. Let his light continue to shine in your hearts as it does in all of our who had the pleasure to know him.

Hi Kati and family,

This is Jeremy Sartain, Mike's friend and massage therapist. I want to thank you for sharing Mike with us all. Mike and I had much in common - bike racing and triathlon topped the list. Mike and I would chat endlessly after massage sessions discussing past races and future hopes. We had amazing conversations and fantastic times skiing together. All of us will miss him terribly.

To Kati and family,
I got to know Mike when I started bike racing in 1983. I was lucky to be on the same team as he was. He really encouraged me and believed in me when I didn't believe in myself. I remember working on going around corners at high speeds in empty parking lots at 6AM and riding 100 miles after work at 5PM to check out the State Road Race course in Afton. What success I had, I owe to him. He encouraged so many on our team, and wanted the best for them. He was a true friend. I admired his lifelong commitment to health and fitness. My thoughts are with you during this difficult time. We have truly lost a wonderful friend.

Katie,

I so sorry for your loss!

As you know, Mike and I used to work together for many years. We worked through the conversion from the CDS System to the AS/400. I still remember him balancing items in Cash Applications on the CDS System into the evening.

About a month ago, Mike and I got together again and revisted old times. I also showed Mike all the changes since he left like Electronic Remittances. It was like the good old days and we both smiled as we looked back.

I'll miss him and my thoughts and prayers are with you.

July 31, 2008

Kati and Family I am so sorry for your loss. I worked with Mike at McKesson on the Orbits helpdesk for six years. Mike was an intelligent articulate man whose demeanor and professionalism kept customers relaxed and confident that their issues were going to be resolved. He was also the guy I turned to when I was struggling with complicated issues when my own brain was smoldering. Mike and I would spend hours and hours looking at raw data trying to figure out what happened, why it happened, and how could we duplicate it. When others would tend to get overwhelmed by the task Mike always lived up to the challenge. During the slow times Mike was always good for a story (or ten) about his latest race or the most updated Lance Armstrong gossip. Every night on my way home I would see Mike running past the Golden Valley Country Club (I don’t think the man every broke a sweat I always assumed he was part machine). Mike also took time during the slow moments to paint landscapes and had his finished works displayed in his cube. Each night before leaving I seemed to wander over to his cube to admire his new artwork while having a conversation with my friend. Mike was a huge asset to the helpdesk and he will be missed by all.

Wayne Smith

July 31, 2008

Mike was quite a guy. I was fortunate to have him on my team for a very long time. I could always count on him, no matter the problem. Even if he struggled with it and I said “ok don’t worry about it “, he would tell me, “no just let me spend some more time on it, I’m sure I can find a solution”. That “Can Do” attitude represented Mike in both his professional and personal life. He was really respected by the department and the entire McKesson sales team. His soft spoken manner, patience, and attention to detail made him our top Analyst.

He also had the luxury ( maybe not) of being in the first cube outside my door, so when I wanted to take a break or check on the team, Mike was first in line. We both shared a love of the outdoors and we had the National Weather site set as our favorites and we would talk about snow depths in Ely, MN or the U.P. of Michigan and other up North stuff.. He really liked the favorite food of the U.P – pasties (Finish meat pies) He once told me the best were from the bakery in Tower, MN. I have a cabin in that area and one day as I drove by, I saw that it was closed. I had to tell him he would need to find a new place to get them. So I brought him some "real ones" when I came back from visiting in the U.P. and he lit up with that infectious smile.

When he started painting I got to “critique” his work as it was the first thing I saw coming out of my office. He once went to a one day art school and I asked him what he learned and he said the instructor told him to learn to draw first. So that is what he did. You could see his determination and skill grow. There were sketches everywhere in his cube. When he was on call with a customer he would be sketching. He always had that determination to succeed. But nothing he painted will ever be more notable than his “Blue Cow”.

He will be sadly missed, but remembered fondly. I am grateful that our paths got to cross for so long.

I'm sorry for your loss. I've had the pleasure of working with Michael since the old days of Redline in the Glenwood office when he worked the night shift. He'd always look for a computer to use at night and frequently would come to our area. Mike was always a delight to chat with. Never a harsh word and always reminiscing about historical television events, etc.

He will be a missed asset.

To the Kilcoyne Family,

I worked at Mckesson with Mike for 17 years and mourn his loss and covet his memory fondly. Mike was often referred to as " the bike guy " and his love of running and biking were obvious. He was the only one you would see wearing shorts on a lunchbreak in October, and I can honestly say he was the only person I ever saw run more than I saw eat. His love for art was less known but his work he shared was impressive, and I never saw him upset about anything. I will miss the sight of his cool bike parked outside and I don't know if he really knew how much he was admired for his dedication to fitness. I was talking to him recently and said " Mike you can run all you want, but I will never get into shape myself again!, I mean gosh I'm over forty now" and he said " look at me, I'm nearly 50" and I was surprised because he looked so much yonger, he said " I know you could do it if you wanted " and that was Mike...nice. He will be very much missed.

To Mike's Family,
Words can't express the sadness I felt when I heard of Mike's passing.

I worked with Mike in A/P and got to know him then. He was such a kind and gentle person. I was amazed when he would tell us of his bike rides and cross country sking with his wife.
The last time I saw Mike he was leaving the parking lot and wearing his bike helmet. He rode off on his bike with a smile on his face.

My thoughts and prayers go out to you. He will be missed by all of us at McKesson.

I, too, am very sorry for your loss. I have been remembering times (many years ago) when our company switched computer systems. Much of the programming was either modified or built "from scratch." The parts didn't always work well together and Mike was among those who worked hard to "fix" the system. Everyone wanted Mike in the planning meetings for fixes to the built-from-scratch back-end part of the system because Mike understood how the system should work, how it really worked and what was just wishful thinking. I'll miss his optimistic outlook and his clear-headed approach.

Kati and family,

Mike will be sorely missed for his kindness and humor. I had the pleasure of getting a painting from him a few years ago and all it cost was a Pancheros burrito. What a deal. I still have his painting on my desk. My deepest sympathy goes out to you and your family.

The thrill of a race well run; The freedom of the open road, on a bike alone and one with the countryside. The beauty of a country landscape. captured on canvas. These are ALL things that are appreciated by me as they were by Mike. You were kind and sincere, an honorable man. You will be missed!
My 8 years working with you in Customer Sytems went by all too fast.

To Mike's Family-
words cannot express what this loss entails. I have worked with Mike for the last 8 years here at McKesson and he taught and gave so much. It has left a huge hole here that will never be filled.
I was always grateful for Mike's running advice. I too had never ran before and he really pushed me and helped me to enjoy it.
His knowledge in Access was superior, there is no one that I can think of that can write up databases the way he could.
His paintings were beautiful, and while there was a quiet exterior, I loved his sense of humor. You could tell he came alive around 6PM everyday!
I hope that these memories will ease some pain and to help remember the celebration of the life that was and will continue on in his memory. My thoughts are with you at this time.

To Mike's Family,

I’m so sorry for your loss. I cannot even begin to understand how this is affecting all of you and my thoughts & prayers are with you.

I had the pleasure of working with Mike for over 11 years at McKesson.

I’ll echo many of the things Alicia mentioned:

I loved his painting. I moved to Nebraska last year. Every time I visited Golden Valley – I saw that he was getting better and better and he was so proud of his work. He was so happy doing it – his face just lit up.

The fundraiser to help send him to France for the bike race – that was so much fun! We all enjoyed it so much because it made him so happy.

The biggest thing about Mike was that he was just so darn nice and such a wonderful person to be around. That is what I will miss most.

It was truly a pleasure to know him. I hope the many happy memories comfort you in this difficult time.

With my deepest sympathy,

Pam

Kati and Family,

Mike was a great man who will truly be missed by his co-workers. He was always there to help everyone here. His dedication to his fitness was inspiration to everyone that he came in contact with. We discussed biking and running, he would always say that no one ever needed to run more than 3 miles, lol. I had a hard time when I first started running and I would always keep that thought in the back of my head. Once I was able to run 3 miles, I was so proud I could run as far as Mike stated that anyone would have too.

I worked with Mike off and on in the past 25 years I have worked for McKesson, and am thankful for the past 8 years in customer systems. He assisted me with several access database issues and taught me how to handle complex database issues myself.

My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time, the world has lost someone truly wonderful and amazing.

Sincerely

Debbie Forrest

To Mike's family,

I am so sorry for your loss. I can't even imagine what you are going through. I worked with Mike at McKesson, on the help desk, for the past 8 years.

Mike was the nicest, kindness, intelligent, athletic, artistic person I have ever come to know. What an Acess guru he was! We would talk to eachother with a British accent to break up the monotony that comes with the job we have.

I remember when I got to train him in and I told him how funny it was that I was actually teaching HIM something!!! :)

I love his paintings, he really had a talent!

He would give me advice on health issues, pressure points, Omega 3 and helped me see what was good for the body.

I remember when we did the fund raiser at work to help him go to France. That is something I will never forget and how humbled/excited he was to go.

Even though we shared a lot, Mikey was a private guy and someone you could tell a secret to.

I will miss my dear friend and everytime I see the landscape of a farm and/or a bicyclist peddling it to work, I will remember him.

Again to the family and friends, I am so sorry, he will be surely be missed.

With deepest sympathy,

Alicia a.k.a. GG

Kati and family:
You have my deepest sympathy on the loss of Mike. I cannot be with you for the celebration of his life but know that I am with you in spirit. There are no words that I can use to describe him better than you can, for you knew his soul and heart. To me he was a friend that always had a smile when we saw each other and he always made me feel good about me. He always asked about my family, a reflection I believe about his own wonderful family. He will be missed by many people and have comfort in the memories you created together.
