This is from Gene Keefe, a classmate of Joann's from St. Marys.
I still remember Mike and his winning smile. He was a year ahead of me in school and was always a helpful friend.
Best wishes to the whole family. He was a great guy and will always be remembered.

Dear Rosemary and cousins.
I was so sorry to hear about Mike when Kay called me the other day. Most of my memories of Mike are of he as a child and they are wonderful ones. At that time in our lives we all spent a great deal of time together. Unfortunately, distance kept me from seeing more of him and all of the family. However, I am so happy that I was able to visit with him last August. May God bless you during this difficult time in your lives and my love especially to Rosemary.
Sincerely,
Maggie Scholl

Mike was a ray of sunshine at Loyola. He was a 'Gentle Giant'. Quick with a silly joke, or a hearty, "Hello!". He made those around him smile and left them feeling that they were someone special.
Share the funny 'Mike Stories' amongst yourselves. As someone else said of him, he would want you to see the ray of sunshine amidst the storm clouds.
You are all in my prayers.

Dear Life and Jackie, Aunt Rosemary and Cousins,
All of us that have had the honor of knowing Mike will truly miss him. Mike was a good man, a wonderful dad and a terrific son and brother. Mike always had a kind word. He always had a smile on his face. When we would see each other at family get-togethers, he would give me a big hug and we picked up where we left off. And best of all, Mike was fun and his laughter was infectious.
Our sincere condolences and sympathies to all of you! May God bless you during this sad time and may God put a smile on your face and comfort in your heart whenever you think of Mike.
Love,
Debbie (Callahan), Jim, Jaime and Tom Loizzo
