Ghelfi, Michael Emil

Michael Emil Ghelfi entered Heaven on February 28, 2025 with the sun shining on him, listening to Fleetwood Mac, and surrounded by the love of his girls.

Mike (Mick) was married 55 years to his sweetheart of 61 years. Together they formed a family with their two daughters. One of his greatest joys was being "Mo" to his five grandchildren. A generous man who put people at ease, he had many who called him friend.

Mike was born on April 11, 1947, the youngest of three boys to Emil and Leah. He grew up in Hometown, Illinois and attended Our Lady of Loretto Catholic School. He attended Oak Lawn High School and went on to graduate from Bradley University. He was the first in his family to graduate from college. He married the love of his life after graduation and had two daughters. He started his own company, MEGENT INC. and loved working with the brothers and sisters of IBEW Local 134, of which his father and both brothers were members. His life was filled with adventure and he travelled around the world. His favorites were Perrault Falls in northwest Ontario, Dauphin Island in Alabama, and Naples, Florida. He was a life long Yankee fan, loved to read and would have won Jeopardy.

Mike is survived by his wife, Linda (nee Hennel), daughters Laura Whittingham and Lisa (William) McCarty. Proud "Mo" to Jack and Tyler Whittingham, and Finn, Declan, and Mairead McCarty. He is proceeded in death by his father and mother, Emil and Leah, and two brothers, Anthony and Richard. Proud uncle to many nephews and nieces.

Per Mike's request, there will be no services. The family will hold a celebration of his life at a date to be determined.
