SEPTEMBER 2--Michael's birthday...

We never need a special day
To bring you to our mind,
For days without a thought of you,
Are very hard to find.
We cannot send a birthday card,
Your hand we cannot touch,
But God will take our greetings
To the one we love so much.

In remembrance of Mom's birthday, January 10 -- 'twas a blessing to have her in our lives and we cherish the family stories Belle would tell & retell many times, now we know the importance of her telling us these treasures.
If roses grow in Heaven Lord
Please pick a bunch for me.
Place them in my Mother's arms
and tell her they're from me.
Tell her I love her and miss her,
and when she turns to smile,
Place a kiss upon her cheek
and hold her for a while.
Because remembering her is easy,
I do it everyday,
But there is an ache within my heart
That will never go away.

Remembering Michael's 54th birthday today, too young to be gone. Perhaps appropriately on this day after 3 years of putting it off, we cleared out the storage unit, which of course left us with melancholy feelings, going thru the pain of loss for Michael, Mom & Dad all over again.

We have many boxes of sentimental items, which include photos, documents [Gallagher family]; riviera collectibles, fishing misc. [Michael]; framed hand-painted original artwork [Belle]; household tools [Jim] ... these items are now priceless treasures in our family.

As we continue missing Michael, we also continue to keep his memory strong with wonderful stories of the past.

Some Guinness was spilled on the barroom floor
when the pub was shut for the night.
Out of his hole crept a wee brown mouse
and stood in the pale moonlight.
He lapped up the frothy brew from the floor,
then back on his haunches he sat.
And all night long you could hear him roar,
'Bring on the goddam cat!'

In loving remembrance of Michael, who made the world a nicer place and filled our hearts with laughter.

Remebering Godfather Mike's birthday... hardly believe he's "gone" seems more like he moved out of town and is still there anytime for us, but alas we know the reality. We think of him being out of view not out of mind or heart. Michael really had a knack for sharing laughter among all of us and anyone he met. His good deeds live on. We are thankful for the strong belief and faith in knowing our families will reunite in the eternities. May God keep our brother, uncle, friend, safe in His care.

Two years ago, 4/26/08 the unexpected loss of Michael broke our hearts.
Truly, a day does not go by without us thinking of Michael. We continue to keep his storage unit, finding it quite difficult to close down, although we know there are many memories that a storage locker doesn't hold, those memories are in our hearts and will remain with us forever. We need to give the fishing gear to his fishing pal Danny so "they" can go fishing together again, that's a wonderful thought. We won't let you down Michael. In honor of Michael's love of music, one of many favorites...

On this St. Patrick's Day we remember our Michael's love & kindness he showed to everyone. Anyone who knew him was blessed with his sincere friendship and most original humor. Michael had a special mission in his life, he accomplished it well, albeit he was taken too soon, straddled with the weak diseased gene. We miss him dearly.

He kept at true good humour's mark
The social flow of pleasure's tide:
He never made a brow look dark,
Nor caused a tear, but when he died.

Thinking of Michael this Christmas and cherishing the memories of happier days. Oh, how he made us laugh, especially during the holidays when we'd gather and sing traditional Christmas Carols with our own made up words!

Rest in peace dear brother, as we await to meet again in God's eternities.

Godfather Mike would be so proud of AngieBelle graduating from 8th grade with High Honors and member of the National Junior Honor Society, he enjoyed so much the love for education she surely inherited thru all the GOOD DNA from family :) GrandmaBelle would've loved Angie's musical talents and knowing she was part of that upbringing by singing to her when she was just a baby, believe it or not, Oh Sole Mio was one of her favorites along with Too-ra-loo-ra-loo-ral :) Bumpa would get a kick out of AngieBelle being in the Marching Band, and also the sole 8th grade recipient of the prestigious John Phillip Sousa Award :)

God Bless our dearly departed loved ones, whom have been such a huge part of our world and will remain in our hearts forever---

One year ago today Mike died. A part of us died with him. Another piece of our hearts were sealed closed. A chapter in our book of life ended. Anyone that knew him felt the loss. Perhaps still feeling the loss, remembering him in all the usual places, his laughter, his choice of music, his storytelling. We've been blessed to have him among us. Nearing one year and yet it seems as if Michael will be walking in the door anytime now... St. Patrick's Day has come and gone without much celebration, even so, in honor of Mike, who continuously made us laugh, here's one for the road...

Paddy O'Gallagher was desperately looking for a parking spot as he was late for his first day of work at a new job. He pleaded "Please Lord, help me find a parking place and I promise to attend mass every Sunday and give up drinking me Irish whiskey"... sure'n'begorrah, a parking spot appeared... at that moment, Paddy spoke out loud, "Never mind Lord, I found one!"

Dear Marty, Connie, and AngieBelle,
I was shocked to learn of Mike's sudden passing. Thirty or more years ago I first met Mike when he was just a boy, jumping in his backyard pool, a backyard next-door to mine. As he grew, he became like his dad in that Mike was generous in sharing his time and expertise whenever my family needed assistance. In later years his dad needed more of Mike's attention and he stepped up. A good son, a good neighbor, a great loss.

Dear Connie, Marty and AngieBelle,

We know there are no words or actions that can alleviate your heartache. Our hearts, thoughts and prayers go out to you at this difficult time of loss. Mike Gallagher was one of the kindest, gentlest souls we have ever had the pleasure to meet. We know he is resting amongst the great warmth and love that Heaven offers. We pray for your long, continued journey, until that day when he will be seen again.

All our love,
(Aunt) TeeCee and (Uncle) Marky

“He who sleeps here, when dying, mistaking the approach of death for the return of health, whispered with his latest breath, ‘I am better now.’ Let us believe, in spite of doubts and dogmas, of fears and tears, that these dear words are true of all the countless dead. The record of a generous life runs like a vine around the memory of our dead, and every sweet, unselfish act is now a perfumed flower."

"Blessed are they that mourn, for they shall be made strong."

~ May God Bless ~
