Adams, Msgr Michael J.

Monsignor Michael J. Adams, age 90, Pastor Emeritus of St. Mary Star of the Sea Parish and resident of Christ the King Parish, entered Eternal Life on April 23, 2023. Msgr. Adams was ordained into the priesthood on May 7, 1959, by Albert Cardinal Meyer. Loving son of the faithfully departed Michael and Jennie Adams. Dear brother of Yolanda (late John) DuBois and fond uncle of their four children. Fr. Mike, to those who knew and loved him, was an exceptional priest who began his priestly ministry as Assistant Pastor of St. Margaret of Scotland Parish. He went on to serve at St.Matthias Parish (Ainslie St), St. Mary Parish (Evanston), St. Francis de Paula Parish (Dobson Ave), and St. Stephen of Hungary Parish (Augusta Blvd). Fr. Mike pastored the People of St. Gall Parish (55th St) from 1977 until 1992 and then pastored the people of St. Mary Star of the Sea (64th St) from 1992 until his official retirement in 2004. In "retirement", Fr. Mike served as the Administrator of St. Bede the Venerable, St. Albert the Great, and St. Catherine of Alexandria parishes when their need arose. He was a beloved presence at Christ the King parish where people benefited from his exceptionally kind nature, dedicated prayer life, and thought-provoking homilies. Msgr. Adams will lie in state at Christ the King Church, 9235 S. Hamilton Ave., Chicago, IL, 60643, Friday, April 28th from 3:00 p.m. until time of Vigil Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. (through the help of friends from St. Gall Parish and St. Mary Star of the Sea Parish). Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, immediately following the Funeral Mass. Fr. Mike will be dearly missed by the life-long friends he made throughout his nearly 64 years of priesthood. It would be impossible to count the thousands of people that benefited from his wisdom, guidance, prayer, commitment to social justice, and service to God's people. Fr. Mike's life is a testimony to what can happen when you place your trust in the Holy Spirit.
