Our condolences on your loss.
we were close when we were young,
many years ago, in the city, and
in South Haven. I had my first
cigarette with Mervin, when he
taught a bunch of the young cousins
how to smoke. we were caught by my
grandmother smoking in the annex
of the Sands Hotel in South Haven

Merv, you will truly be missed. Your obituary said it all..you were such a true and loyal friend to so many, but especially to my husband, Brian. Fifty plus years of friendship leaves him with countless happy memories...I thank you for that! Our kids will think of you with happy memories also..."Merf the Smurf"! I personally will miss your patriotic and sometimes "wacky" emails. I know you are at peace now and we thank you for the pleasure of sharing so many years of our lives with you!

Words cannot express the feelings of loosing a friend so near and dear to our family. He was always there for people including our family and never forgot a birthday, a blessing, or being a friend in time of need. In deed a true friend. We will miss him terribly. May his family know no more sorrow. Ala Va Shalom

Mervie~ I still cannot believe that you are gone even as I write this. The man that all thought was a tough guy and who didn't care about anyone, was really the man who cared more than most. I will miss you, your funny emails, witty personality, and judicious charm.

Packman, Asteroids and Space Invaders at Josie’s in Normal is where we started 25 years ago. Happiness was: 707 Dale St.; July fourteenth or as some people woud say...7-14; Kal-Man; Stereos (six in my one year old VW Jetta alone); Concerts at ISU; radio advertising on WBNQ; drives through campus, some unknowingly; moving back to Chicagoland; The Elton John concert that only your car stereo was louder; The Bears; Computers; Number 1 Son restaurant; Dancing with Kim; working at RK Witt and smoking in the men’s room with my dad; going to the Moody Blues concert with me for the second time and having eighth row seats and back stage passes, seeing your favorite all time band within inches of your heart while tears ran down your cheeks; your teeth or lack there of; satellite TV's; the ride home out of our office in Chicago on 911; your newly found / renewed relationship with your son Mitchell who we talked about and faught about for the last twenty years; the G35 Infinity, as my daughter said to me...Dad, some hillbilly with no teeth in a really hot car is in our driveway, oh my G-D, it's Merv!; Being a grandfather made your sentimental side really shine and made your fight for life so much more important and worthwhile.
I do miss you and will always! :)
