Dear Michael, Robin and family,
Although I only knew Maynard a few short months, I will remember the love this family had for him. Mike, whatever I asked for to help with your dad's rehab, you made sure he had it. Maynard is now at rest and your loss is great. You have no regrets, as you did everything for this man that you could. My memory of Maynard is when I was working with him and he tweaked his eye brow at me even though he tried to flirt, he always tried his hardest with physical therapy. You are a special family and your children will always remember grampa living with them. God Bless You All, Fondly Becky Kroes, (physical therapist from TNR)

I worked for Maynard at both Pants Stores in the early 1970's. He was such fun to work for! He taught me how to make change from a $100 bill. For someone lacking math skills, that was huge. He was very patient. He adored his family. I remember Michael running into the store in Northbrook and Maynard always had a chore for him to do. He referred to Randi as the
"baby," very lovingly. He always talked to Rhonda (friend/co-worker) and I about Richard and Andrea, comparing our lives, because we were close to their ages. He took Rhonda and I to see B.B. King and Ray Charles at the Golf Mill theater-in-the-round. We thought he was so "cool" for an adult. He loved to nosh with us! We met up again at the Buffalo Grove JCC, when my daughter was in preschool. That was 18 years ago. He continued to call once a year, when I would buy a lox box for Leukemia Research, his coveted charity. It was always so nice to hear from him. I missed those calls the past few years..He was a truly a good person. My deepest and sincerest condolences go out to the whole family.

I met Maynard when I was 15 years old. He hired me to work for him at The Pants Store in Northbrook. It was an easy concept for me - everything was $5.99! We spent a lot of time talking and laughing during my two years there. He was a great boss and quite a lively character. His greatest love then was his family...as I'm sure it always was. I will always smile when I think of Maynard. Rhonda Howard
