Nineteen years without our Matt. Still miss him. Good memories of his humor. He would have been turning 46 in December of this year, 2025.
We know he is happy in heaven with Jesus!

Seventeen years to the day. Obviously, today is a sad day for us, but we need to balance that sadness with two real hopes: that Matt is safe and joyful with his Savior in heaven ("He who believes and is baptized will be saved." Mark 16:16) and that we will be reunited with him one day and spend eternity with him in paradise.

I still think about Matt frequently and hope that he's having as much adventure in the next lifetime as he had in this one. He was such a wonderful person, and he's missed.

Our Matthew, in his twenty-six years of life, has left us with so much love and caring. Each day we have thoughts of him. Matt's humor is remembered often; his immitations and gestures still make us laugh!
With the help of God we have made it thus far - a whole year without our dear Matthew. We thank each of you for the comfort you have given us with your thoughts, prayers, cards, phone calls and emails. We thank God for His comfort. Praise God from Whom All Blessings Come! Matthew was a blessing in our lives!
This guest book will end on January 12, 2007. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us!

Dear Gary, Dorothy and Family,

We know how proud you are of Matthew. He's a great American and most importantly, a redeemed child of God. May God comfort you day by day and lead you forward in your work for the Lord, each in your own way. Our prayers are with you. We love you all.

Matt's family and friends,

It is hard to lose someone that you knew for so long. It is even harder to think of how their family is coping. What has made it easier for me is knowing the faith that Matt's family and friends have. Knowing that things are not "over" for him keeps me comforted through extreme sadness. This is not the end, although the sadness remains for us here on earth. We look to friends, family and God to keep alive the wonderful memories of the beautiful character he was and is, and to help us through until we meet again.

Reverend and Dorothy,

I'm so sorry for your loss. Matt and I were good friends in highschool, and I have a lot of good memories with Matt. I had the pleasure of being Matt's partner in our senior year of auto tech, and he always had a way of putting a smile on my face when we hung out. I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

My dearest Aunt and Uncle.

Jamie, Robert and I are truly heartbroken from the loss of Matthew. I remember that Matt always did his own thing but remained a strong part in all our family visits and conversations. He did well for himself and never forgot his family or where he came from. In that fact, you both did well, too. Matt will live on forever in our memories and hearts! God bless you in your time of sorrow and joy, for he is truly home now!

Love Always,

Mr. & Mrs. Schmidtke, family & friends:

I am so sorry about Matt. I have a lot of amazing memories of him in the crowd we both hung around with in high school. I always knew there was something very special about him and I am positive that everyone who met Matt saw that as well. He was an incredible person who I personally will miss dearly. Although I am sad that I hadn't seen him in years, I at least take comfort in the fact that I was lucky enough to have known him and spent some time with him. I honestly feel like I was given a very special gift in getting to know Matt and be around him, even if it was for a short time. Please take care and know that you and Matt are in my heart and in my thoughts.

Rev. & Mrs. Schmidtke-

Pat and I were extremely sorry to hear about your son, Matthew. You may not remember, but you married us on 7/30/1983, and as I remember, you were pregnant with Matthew at that time. Our heartfelt sadness and prayers go out to you both.
