Matthew Sbalchiero Obituary

Sbalchiero, Matthew Daniel 72 years old of Lindenhurst, IL passed away Sunday, January 17, 2016 at his home. He was born September 13, 1943 in Chicago, IL, the son of the late Matthew and Helen (Zych) Sbalchiero. On August 30, 1969, Matthew married Christine Duda in Chicago, IL. They later settled in Lindenhurst in 1983. Matthew served in the United States Army in Korea from 1962-1964 and in the Army Reserves from 1964-1968. He was also a member of the Noble Gents Club in Chicago. Matthew is survived by his wife of over 46 years, Christine; their children, Anthony, Denise (John) Parker, and Thomas (Nicole); two grandchildren, Gregory and Amanda; three siblings, Patricia (Paul) Szczurek, Alice Cellner, and Elizabeth Harasyn; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers-in-law, Hank Cellner and John Harasyn, and in-laws, Steve and Valeria Duda. Funeral Services with Military Honors will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friday, January 22, 2016 at the STRANG FUNERAL HOME OF ANTIOCH, 1055 Main St. (Rte. 83), Antioch, IL 60002. Interment is private. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home. For additional information, call 847-395-4000.
