Marybelle Schomaker Obituary

Marybelle Schomaker, a long time resident of Fraser, died Thursday evening in Fraser Villa Nursing Care Facility in Fraser, Michigan. She was 96 years of age.

Marybelle was born in Rodney, Ontario, Canada on February 28, 1909, a daughter of the late William and Rosina (Groves) McPhail. She came to the U.S. in September of 1924. She had worked for Beecher, Peck & Lewis and Bower Roller Bearing in Detroit but dedicated her life as a homemaker, mother and wife for most of her lifetime. She was united in marriage to Delbert Henry Schomaker on December 7, 1929 in Detroit. The couple built their home in Fraser in 1932. She has been an active member at St.John Lutheran Church of Fraser since 1943, serving the Ladies Aid, 55+ club and was instrumental in the formation of Sunday school for the church. She was a very proud, supportive and strong principled mother who made her family her life. She loved Gardening, Sewing & Canning. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Marybelle is survived by her loving children, Sally (Bob) Hobson and Delberta (Phil) Jennings; her devoted 7 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Her beloved husband, Delbert and 5 siblings preceded her in death.

Visitation will be held at the Faulmann & Walsh Golden Rule Funeral Home, 32814 Utica Rd., Fraser, Saturday from 5pm till 9pm and Sunday from 12noon till 9pm. Dear Sally and Delberta,

I'm sure you already miss your mother(as many of us have been missing our mothers), but knowing that she no longer has to deal with the pain and suffering of this world, but rather is at peace and in God's care, should give you great comfort. She was a member of St. John's for so many years that she saw several generations come and go. I always noticed that she paid attention to the young people growing up, so I personally felt very blessed by that, and was glad to have known her. I'm sure that the Ladies' Aid group in heaven was glad to welcome her to their happy reunion!

Sally, Delberta and family: Our sympathies on the loss of your mom. But, like our mom, we know she is at peace and freed of her ills. Maybe they're both up there planning a Ladies' Aid dinner!
