When a nurse goes to heaven who takes her hand first?
An angel, a friend, some soul that she nursed ?
What words does she hear as she comes through the door?
“Oh thank you, remember me up on your floor?
I probably don't look like the wrinkled old man
whose sores you cleansed daily according to plan.
You helped me to breathe, you asked me to try,
you whispered my name and then helped me to die.”
When a nurse goes to heaven, with all she's endured,
well, everyone's healthy, and smiling and cured,
Her legs aren't so tired, her back feels strong,
her hands aren't so swollen, no caffeine all night long.
There's no beeping, or call lights, or codes being called,
no bleeding, no crying, no hearts getting stalled.
What can a nurse do when she gets where there's peace,
No baths to be given, no seizures to cease ?
The souls that you left here will miss your sweet face,
And the souls that you meet there will never replace,
the ones that you loved and the ones who loved you.
So what's left in heaven for a good nurse to do?
Well, there's family to watch, to guide and console,
to help them remember your love and your role.
Your hands will be missed by the patient and friend,
the extra pair helping, the ones you would lend.
You spent your life caring for those feeling pain,
your love for those sad will not lessen or wane.
Does a nurse up in heaven get restless and bored?
Just what can she do with that gift from Our Lord?
She'll be the light touch on your hand when unsure.
The hope that you feel, the push to endure,
the sharp steady needle as you start the IV.
She's there, in your heart, in your patients, you'll see.
Good Night, Mary Rose...
I wish your family peace, acceptance and good memories...always.

Dear Dave and Family, I was so saddened and upset to hear about M.R. She was such a kind, loving, and generous person. Always thinking of others. McKenna really liked it when M.R.came to see her Irish dance and got her flowers and John remembers her getting him all set up at Ridge with snacks, cokes and the pool last summer. I will dedicate my next round of golf to her. We will all truly miss her...All our prayers and thoughts are with you and yours. Patty Kevin-Schuler and Family
