How sad I am to hear of Dr. McNeill's death. I have thought of her over the years, remembering how she helped me when I was a student at Maria High School in Chicago. The year was 1964 and I was an emotional wreck when I asked to see the school psychologist, Dr. McNeill. To ask to see the counselor at Maria was tantamount to a declaration of insanity so I was relieved to be calmed by Dr. McNeill. It is not an exaggeration to say that she saved my life. After a few meetings, Dr. McNeill observed a large swelling in my neck. Because of Dr. McNeill's observation, I saw our family doctor who diagnosed Grave's Disease with Exopthalmic goiter. This disease, which is hyperactivity of the thyroid, caused my emotional roller coaster. I know I thanked Dr. McNeill at the time but always wanted to let her know the impact she had on my life. I regret not contacting her. Those who survive her should know that there are many like me who were touched by her. I will never forget her acute diagnostic skills and the kindness she showed me. Please accept my sincere condolences at the passing of a great lady.

I was so sad to hear that Tweet passed away. I've been a recipent of many notes over the years (and have saved them all) delighting when one would arrive -- waiting for just the right moment to enjoy -- coveting it like a good book or glass of wine. The last of which was May 25, 2004. Somehow she just had the perfect words for every occasion. My favorite note 11 Sept, 2004 - 12:15 p.m. -- imagine --apologizing for the envelope not matching the stationery. "But it is appropriate" (small tiny hearts) how flattered I felt. She--recalled the first time we spoke and that "awful real estate agent" our 10 years of correspondence are a gift that I will treasure -- I will miss that next note. One of the greatest letter writers -- always a promise, hope or love bestowed. Dearest Tweet -- remember us and send some of your golden sunshine down here! Fondly and with great admiration -- Kath
