Beauty is In the Eye of the Beholder
A Tribute To Mary
Twenty-five years ago, as a young man, I lost my parents and was alone. Tony and Mary Leo welcomed me as a part of their family. With their love and caring came the love and friendship of Frank, and Lou and later Susan, and of course Debbie.
Dinner at the Leo household was never the same after that. Whenever I was there, there were always two meals. One for the family and one was whatever "My Jimmy", as Mary took to calling me, wanted. On the rare occasion when Mary didn't feel like preparing two meals she made, much to the chagrin of the family, the dreaded ….. meatloaf. Mary and I loved meatloaf.
After Deb and I were married Mary took to calling me her favorite son-in-law. There are some that were quick to remind her that I was her only son-in-law. Undaunted, she continued and also began referring to me as her handsome son-in-law; once again proving the age-old adage that beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Each of us has similar stories and memories of our time with Mary. Today will pass and those remembrances will once again bring smiles to our faces and into our hearts. We'll then recognize and remember what a beautiful person we beheld.
Her Jimmy.
