Mary Lea Obituary


DANVILLE, Va. - Mary Evelyn Lea, 79, died Friday, February 20, 2004 at Roman Eagle Memorial Home after a decline in health.

Born May 22, 1924, in Halifax Co., she was a daughter of the late Floyd Joseph Lea and Annie Brandon Lea.

A former resident of Halifax County and Danville, she attended Averett College and was employed with Dan River, Inc.

She had been a resident at Roman Eagle since 1984 and was a member of Connally United Methodist Church at Milton, N.C.

She is survived by a nephew, J. Herbert Lea of Alexandria, Va.

She was predeceased by a brother, John Thomas Lea.

The graveside service will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday at Connally United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Rev. J. Allen Lovell officiating.

The family will receive friends 4 to 6 p.m. Monday at Townes Funeral Home.

The family requests that memorial contributions may be directed to The Connally United Methodist Church in Milton, N.C. or to The National Multiple Sclerosis Society Blue Ridge Chapter, One Morton Drive, Suite 106, Charlottesville, VA 22903.

Townes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
