Mary Furforo Obituary

Furforo, Mary Olive (nee Balestri), born November 7, 1924 in Chicago, Illinois passed away on Saturday, September 16, 2006 at the age of 81. A life long resident of Chicago, "Olive" moved to Aliso Viejo, California in 1999. While she basked in the warmth of the Southern California climate, Olive's heart remained tied to the city, friends and family she left behind. After her husband of 35 years, Angelo, died in 1979 she dedicated her time, energy and love to her grandchildren, her painting and Miss Callie, Jake and Max. Numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, dear friends and her sister-in-law kept in contact with Olive up to the end through calls, visits, cards and letters. She knew their thoughts and prayers were with her. Her family is comforted in the knowledge that she is reunited with her dearly beloved son, James; her husband, Angelo; her mother, Mary Bovenzo (nee Lurgio); sister, Nancy (Fred) Rio; brothers August and Anthony Balestri; and father, Alphonse Balestri. Olive is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Joseph Scuderi; grandchildren Christine (Daniel) Willett and Joseph (Dawn) Scuderi and the greatest joy of her later years, four great-grandchildren--Mia Nicole Willett, Joseph Vincent Scuderi, Katherine Elizabeth Scuderi and Nicholas Christian Scuderi. While she battled a long illness, tenaciously, her end came peacefully with her family at her side. Friends and family may call at John Sheehy & Sons Funeral Home, 7020 W. 127th St., Palos Heights, on Friday, September 22nd from 2 to 9 p.m. The funeral service will be at 11 am on September 23rd at St. Michael's Church, 14327 Highland Ave., Orland Park. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery, West 87th St., Evergreen Park.
