Mary Drish Obituary

Drish, Mary (nee Herman) 73, died Saturday, July 9, 2016 after a long illness. She served as CEO of the South Cook County Girl Scout Council for more than a decade. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, WBBM radio announcer Dale McCarren, and is survived by her daughter, Leslie J. Drish and son, Joseph C. Drish, each of Chicago, and her sister, Leslie J. Herman of Albuquerque, NM. A celebration of her life will be held in the Chicago area at a later date.

Condolences on your loss. Mary and I have known each other since 3rd grade. We walked together to school and were in the same class until we graduated. We drifted apart in High School since we had different interests, but we were both in Mixed Chorus together, Mary a Soprano and I an Alto.

We touched base at a Taft Foundation event 2 years ago and a reunion 4 years ago. Recently Mary contacted me about wanting to get together when she moved back to Chicago. I was looking forward to that.
