Mary Cronin Obituary

Cronin, Mary Patrice age 91, "Auntie Mame" passed away Sunday, May 2, 2010. She is preceded in death by her brothers, Myles J. (the late Eleonore) and Robert (the late Carol) Cronin. She is survived by her brother, Kevin ("Ted") (Mille), Kathleen Kitchen (the late James), the following nephews and nieces: Kevin (Lisa) Cronin, Maura (Randy) Chavez, Sean (Maggie) Cronin, Lisa Murphy, Barry (Karlene) Cronin, Barbara (Kevin) Powers, Joan Kitchen, Maryl (Dennis) McCann, Patrick (Laura) Kitchen, Jo (Joel) Parshall, Ellenmarie (Thomas) Wahlrab, Patrice (Gary) Joyce, and Michael Cronin; grand nephews and nieces Paris, Holly, Josh and Shane Cronin; Kaitlyn and Casey Chavez; Steven, Anne and Jennifer Cronin; Morgan and Courtney Murphy; Matthew and Catherine Cronin; Jeffrey, Christopher and Emily Powers; Megan and Kelly Mattimoe; Eileen, Conor, Katie (Tim) Rau, and Sean McCann; Julia and Jenna Parshall; Josiah and Djuna Wahlrab; and Brendan, Bridget and Dylan Joyce; and great-grand nieces Jade and Serra McCann. From a young age, Mary took care of her family. The oldest of five children, Mary made her extended family her life's quiet mission. Her nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews, and great grand nieces were the apple of her eye and the focus of her heart, and she was truly beloved by them all. She was a soothing source of peace and a holder of confidences. She loved words - reading, history, crossword puzzles - and music. Mary gave us her smile, her presence, her listening ear. Her spirit ran deep, and her giving nature was quiet, constant and effortless. Everyone should have an "Auntie Mame"! Donations in her memory can be made to United Cerebral Palsy, 1660 L Street, Washington, DC 20036. Mary donated her body to science. A memorial Mass will be held in early summer.
