Just read all of the condolences again. I felt like I needed to be near you again. Susan died at age 69. I know she loved you too. My sister, brother and Melissa all gone. Whenever I was having a hard time with something you always came through for me always. I only had one dream about you since you left us. It was about eight years ago and in the dream I had picked up the phone and it was you and your voice and you said to me hi Janie, how are you and I woke up and I just laid there for the longest time It was so good to hear your voice again. I just could not stop crying but I think I may be seeing you soon. i´m counting on it. Love you

I fondly remember Mrs. Buckie as a dedicated, strong, purposeful woman. After becoming a middle school teacher myself, I can only hope that my students remember me as influentially as I remember her. My thoughts are with her family.

Mrs. Buckie. You will be missed, but never forgotten. Your whole-hearted teaching and caring for students was truly memorable. And you had such a knack for tying in some well deserved discipline and words of advice for us troublemakers. ;o)

Mrs. Buckie, She was an amazing teacher. I used to get dropped off early in 8th grade and she'd let me sit and do my homework and she'd tell stories from the Navy. She was seriously just the coolest teacher and made my last year at St. Mary's memorable. I work in elementary education now and hope that I'll be remembered as fondly some day. My thoughts go out to her family. Tiffany Jones SMG(Class of 89)

Mrs. Buckie was a big part of what made St. Mary's such a special place. Her "unique" way of handling us troublesome 8th graders was a joy then and has kept her alive in our memories forever. She used to always say she could never teach 2nd graders...but she had the 13 year olds down pat.
My deepest condolences and prayers go out to her family and close friends...know that she had a lasting impact on everyone she taught, the mark of the very best of teachers. Godspeed Mrs. Buckie.

To the family, my condolences and gratitude. Mrs. Buckie was my 8th grade teacher and I continue to remember her strength and chutzpah to this day. She was warm, strong and caring. I remember her verve for teaching about the US, and it is no surprise to me that she served in the Navy. I remember during a Social Studies class, she quoted American statesman Carl Schurz, "My country, right or wrong; if right, to be kept right; and if wrong, to be set right." And she said it with such conviction, I felt as a child what it meant to be patriotic and just. I like to think partly because of her, I currently serve in the Navy now, and I'm proud to call her a Shipmate. Fair winds and following seas, Mrs. Buckie, this Sailor knows the ropes because of you. - Jason Joven, LTJG, USN; SMG Class of '96
