Dear Annie & Family - My deepest sympathy to you all. Today has been a day of tears and shock and sadness as I remember my wonderful dear friend who was such an important person in my young life. I was with her in delivery when Ricky was born, and when my daughter was born at McNeal Hospital in 1990, Maryann was in the lab doing my blood work. I think it's an incredible coincidence that we were there for each other's deliveries. She was a constant presence in my young life and there are so many meaningful experiences I've shared with her that have helped to shape me into the person I am today. She was also close to both my sisters, my mom and dad. There are hundreds of memories of fun and trifling foolishness, camping, cruisin' in her car, playing cards and making fun of people. I can write a book. I just wanted you all to know what an important person she was in my life, my great friend Maryann Barker. I will never forget her. Love and condolences, Kathy Smolarek
