I worked with Marv and Virginia at the Sun-Times during my years as classical music critic (and occasional dance critic) there. Marv was such a happy presence in the features dept. I loved his dry wit. But best of all was his skill as a copy editor. When he was on the desk, I knew my copy was in very, very good hands. I'm very sorry he's no longer with us.

My father Raymond Bendig worked with Marvin for many, many years at The Brite One. Dad mentioned "Marv" many times and always in friendly terms. Dad passed in June of 2018 @ 84.
