Dear Kapugi Family, Please accept our deepest sympathies. Marty taught my wife Paula Govedarica to play the Prim with the Redwood Tammies. We passed our love of tambura music on to our daughters who both play. Prim & Brac.I enjoy playing Marty's old 78's on the record player. But nothing compares to the the fond memories we have of singing along with Marty at Redwood. He was a loving and caring man. May his memory be eternal. Sincerely,

Nate & Karen Huston

I met Marty through my husband Peter. Many a dances when Marty was part of the entertainment we had the wonderful opportunity to hear the great Serbian tamburitza music. He was always full of life when playing and singing that wonderful music. May his memory be eternal and our condolences to the family and friends of our dearly beloved Marty...Peter and Jelena Mulin, Odessa, Florida

My deepest condolences to the entire Kapugi family. I had the pleasure of meeting Marty about a dozen times during the past few years -- at Lodge 32's annual picnics, the Jovial Club, European Chalet, and other events. He always treated everyone in a warm and friendly manner. The last time I spoke to him was during the dinner at the tamburitza extravaganza that was held in Lombard, Illinois last October. We all had a great time!! Later that evening --- Marty was still singing along with several tamburashi until 3:00 AM. What a great time we all had with Marty that evening!!

I thank Marty for providing much joy and happiness to the Croatian and Serbian people --- via the music that he and his brothers and fellow tamburashi performed --- for well over 70 years! He will be greatly missed by all who loved him and who enjoyed his music.

I have met Marty Kapugi only a couple of times, but one of those times was truly special. When he and Sar Planina Orchestra came to St. Simeon in South Chicago for a Veselo Vecer put togather by the Zmaj Jovan Jovanovich Choir. With his help, some of us were able to live out a dream of singing solo in front of a audience with Marty and Sar Planina Orchestra backing us up. It was a memorable moment which some would wish for one more time. Vecnaja Pamjat!

Truly the end of an era. Marty was the last of the tamburitza legends and he will be missed. My heart felt condolences to the entire Kapugi family. May his memory be eternal.

My sincere condolences to the entire Kapugi family. Marty was my brothers (Pete, Dusan, Joey Puhar) and my tambura instructor at Holy Resurrection Church. He would pick us for practice and on the way home we would stop for hot Vienna bread to bring home to our family, the Vienna bread factory was on the way home. I will always have fond memories of Marty.

Memory eternal!

Marty brought joy and happiness to millions in his lifetime. I thank Marty for all his kindness, his patience in trying to teach me the cello, and love he showed our family. May he rest in peace and his memory is eternal. He will be up in heaven playing Oh Jelo Jelo for Mom.

My prayers are with you during this time. He was truly a great man and an outstanding musician. He taught me how to play the prima some 40 years ago! His melodious voice was often imitated, but never duplicated and his music and recordings will live on forever.
