Martin Chmura Obituary

Chmura, Martin Willis

On Tuesday, November 17, 2020, Martin W Chmura, loving husband, proud father and grandfather, passed away at the age of 61. Marty was born on December 27, 1958 in Chicago, IL to Albert and Shirley Chmura. In 1985, he received his law degree from Chicago-Kent College of Law, and became a dedicated member of the McDonald's Legal Department for his entire career, spanning nearly four decades of service. On November 27, 1987, Marty married Judy and together built a beautiful life full of love and laughter. The simplest pleasures brought great joy to Marty like pizza nights, drinking mocha frappes, singing karaoke and wandering the aisles of Costco. His passions were witnessing his grandchildren grow, traveling and watching every sporting event on TV. Long-time friends loved Marty's incomparable smile and generous heart. At McDonald's, he was an inspiring leader and dedicated mentor to his many colleagues across the globe. But to his family, Marty was an endless source of playfulness, counsel and strength. He truly left this world a better place. Marty is survived by his loving wife Judy, his two children Brian and Emily, their spouses, grandchildren, brothers Mark and Ken, sister Pam along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. I think of Marty often & still find it hard to believe he´s gone. The picture of his wonderful smile is how I remember him when walking down the halls at McD´s. I especially enjoyed the 2 yrs. I got to spend as Marty admin. in our Central Div. office. Then we both made it back to COB, just in different depts. He & I would discuss climbing the stairs in Palos, including him having his wheel stolen in that parking lot. Please know that anyone who knew Marty will never forget him.

Great guy. I played for Topps against Marty and Mark (So.Holl Bank) in little league, and also went to St.Jude, so I have fond memories of both brothers. Marty was a Pete Rose type, but a real comedian, at the same time. He was a real competitor, but knew how to have a good time. He came from a great family, and my heart goes out to the entire Chmura clan. I haven't seen Marty in 50 years, but I remember him like a brother. God Bless!

I just heard of Marty´s passing & can´t believe it. I was Marty´s admin. when we were in the Central Division office. Then we both made it back to COB. I was in a different dept., but close to Marty´s. He was such a special person. He always had a smile & would take the time to give his advice when asked. We talked about walking the stairs at Swallow Cliff in Palos. My heart goes out to your entire family. He loved his family very much & talked about his kids all the time. He will be missed by many, many people.

I was saddened to learn of Marty's passing and wish to offer my condolence to the entire Chmura family. I played Junior College baseball with Marty at TCC and later was his college roomate at Eastern Illinois University. Marty was always fun to be around and we had a lot of great, late night poker games and highly competitive games of Risk. We always enjoyed friendly banter around our baseball allegiances and I could always count on a few extra dollars in my pocket each year from our annual Cubs/Sox bet. I have a lot of great memories of Marty and he will be missed.

I was so saddened to hear of Marty's passing. I haven't seen Marty in over 25 years but we grew up together in the Dolton/South Holland area and were classmates at St. Jude the Apostle grade school and Thornridge High School. In fact, Marty and I sat next to each other in Freshman English at Thornridge. Marty was such a nice guy. My deepest condolences to his wife and family during this very difficult time. Rest in Peace, Marty.

Marty started in the Franchising Department at McDonald's and I was working there when he joined us as a law clerk. He was a great hire and had a very successful career with a tremendous company. I was shocked when I heard of his passing as I saw him in Jan or Feb of this year when I was at the corporate office. His smile was infectious. Judy, his wife, worked for me for many years and Jill and I extend our sympathies to the Chmura family.
