Martha Thompson Obituary

THOMPSON, MARTHA JOPassed from this world into the loving arms of our Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday morning surrounded by family that loved her dearly and will miss her every single day. Martha was born to Boyce and Carrie Blalock in Dallas, Texas on August 5, 1927. She grew up in Oak Cliff and attended Trinity Heights High School. She worked for Travelers Insurance before marrying Wayne Jacobs and having a daughter Sue in 1950. Wayne Jacobs preceded Martha in death. She married Gerald M. Pointer in 1945 and had another daughter Nancy in 1957. Martha lived to care for her family and was an outstanding Mother and wife. Martha then married Tom L. Thompson and spent the remainder of her days living on the shores of Lake Ray Hubbard in Rowlett, Texas. Martha was always the life of the party-a witty and sociable woman who always took everyones feelings into consideration. Known for unconditional love and forgiveness she always placed her family first making sure that her loved ones were happy and cared for. She was an outstanding cook and always had hot nutritious meals for her family. Particularly talented with make-up and its application she was instrumental in helping her close friend Jerrie Wiese establish a thriving personal appearance salon, the Facial Exchange in Addison, Texas in the 1980s. A devoted student of Bible Study Fellowship Martha completed the full seven years and graduated in 2002. Martha is survived by her husband Tom L. Thompson and sister Elna O. Allen of Dallas. Her daughters Sue A. Funk and husband David live in Amarillo, Texas. Daughter Nancy L. Pointer and husband David L. Smith live in Houston, Texas. Martha has step sons Conrad, Mark, Stewart and Billy Thompson of Dallas. Her only nephew Edwin E. Freeman and wife Kathe Haxthausen of Colleyville along with grandchildren Stefan, Katie, Jacob and several great grandchildren and step grandchildren. Martha is preceded in death by Reba M. Campbell and BW Blalock. The family wishes to acknowledge special caregivers Linda Brantley whom she considered her "adopted" daughter and Mary Robinson for the care they gave her in the last year of her life. Services are planned for 11AM, Friday, May 23, 2008 at Sparkman Hillcrest with a lunch reception immediately after at the funeral home. Restland 972-238-7111 restlandfuneralhome.com
