Mickey Lurie, what a guy. Mickey had the life I could only dream about. He had it all, a purple Whizzer Motor Bike, a buckskin horse named Duffy and a custom fire engine red '41 Ford with a chopped top. I hung out with Mickey in the summer of '55, Everything with Mickey was an adventure. We kept our horse' at Rancho Russell on Cumberland Rd, not far from the forest reserve on Lawrence just west of Cumberland. Great place to go riding, That summer we where in summer school at Lane Tech, but when the bell rang the announcer on the car radio said it was time for Chicago's Top Tunes, we would ditch school and ride around looking to pick up girls, and with that car it wasn't too difficult. One Friday afternoon, we where at the stable when two older friends of Mickey's rode up on two big Indian Motor cycles, the back of their leather jackets was drawn a skull and crossed pistons and written Chicago Outlaws. They were driving down to Springfield for the State Fair. It was the first time I defied my father. When I called home to see if I could go, my dad told me to come home. when I stepped out of the phone booth, I said "Lets go". I have a lot of other stories of Mickey & I in the summer of '55. That same year in October I joined the Navy. I was gone for six years. In 1964 I bumped into Mickey at a club on Rush St. that was the last time I saw him

Mickey was such a fun person to be with. There were no dull days in my life since he became a part of it. He provided so much love and joy to myself and other people as well. Words can not express how much I miss him. I will cherish my memories of us always. Mickey's Loving Fiance - Laura

I will remember Mickey for his generosity of spirit and heart and the loving kindness he bestowed upon both people and animals. His many friendships around the globe speak to his life. Go in peace, Mickey.
