Garner Jr., Marshall born November 18, 1921, in Summit, MS passed away Saturday, August 30, 2008. Preceded in death by parents Marshall Garner Sr., Hazel Jefferson, Lee Edward Garner (Brother) and Demarious Garner (Grandson). He joined the U.S. Army in 1943, served in WWII, and was honorably discharged in 1946. He attended Cortez Peters Business College. He is survived by wife, Lobelia Ann Garner of Olympia Fields; sons, Marshall David Garner and Anthony Wilson of Chicago; daughters, Mallorie Ann Garner of Olympia Fields and Linda Devore of Chicago; sister, Rose Marie Black of Chicago; aunt, Lela Williams; three nieces and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins and friends from Chicago and across the country. Memorial service is Friday, September 12, 2008, at 10:30 a.m., at Apostolic Church of God, 6320 S. Dorchester in Chicago. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to The American Cancer Society and or The American Diabetes Association.

to the family: it was my priveldge to have known marshall and traveled with him to New Orleans (a year before kATRINA) I will remember his famous sugar water with a hint of lemon, lovengly refered to as "lemonade!" Marshall was a true gentleman and he will be missed. The Thomas family will continue to keep the Garner family in our prayers. :-)
