Dear Ken,
I just want to say how shocked I was to
hear of Marlene's passing. I worked with Marlene out at O'hare Airport and
I was very good friends with Marlene. I
remember her finding what village in Poland my grandfather was born in. I remember her telling me of all her clubs and activities she was involved in. I remember asking her where did she get all the energy. I remember the love of her mom. And the love she had of playing the piano. But what I remember most the friend I had in her.
My deepest regrets to Ken and her family.

The phone rang in the evening hours of the night. My brother, Marcel informed me that Marlene Gill had suffered a heart attack a few hours earlier and had not survived. I decided to call my mom and ask her how she was doing. She whispered a few words I could not hear, as I sat silently on the edge of the bed for a moment, and said, "Marlene passed away at her home, its just not fair."
No, it was not fair. I attempt to share with Marlene's family and friends the grief they experience. Unfortunately, we are compelled to measure the loss of our friend, colleague and inspiration each in our own way and turn to what we can share, the extraordinary life that touched us all.
No word can do justice in explaining what a passionate women Marlene was. Passionate about her family and helping others. For example, assisting me with obtaining scholarships and recognition to achieve my goal of becoming a successful business marketer.
She leaves us a living legacy, in the sincere cards she wrote, the stories she told and the life I live transformed. So, here in this church, on this lovely Chicago morning, there is no need for goodbyes. Marlene's influence was much too profound for words of such finality. Instead, a simple thank you to a colleague, to a friend, to a woman who enriched our lives and passed all too soon.

Ken Everywhere I went the last couple of days, you would hear the name of Marlene on everyone's lips. What a terrible loss it is to all of Polonia. Everyone is shocked. She was everyone's friend and her wonderful, bubbly personality will leave a large hole in all of our lives.
She was loved by many. Heaven called her much too soon. With deepest sympathy....Sharon Zago

I cannot believe Marlena is gone. She will always live in the Polish American community and the lives she has touched. I know she definitely has touched my life in the most profound ways and will live in my and my sister's hearts forever. She was my most dearest and beloved friend. I miss her tremendously. I miss her laugh, zest for life, love of family, Polish-American community and friends. I am stricken with sadness as is my sister Lucille. Dear Ken,
Please accept my deepest sympathy on the loss of your loving wife, Marlene.
I always will remember how beautiful and talented she was. We met so very long ago when we were pre-teens as members of The Windy City International Folk Dancers. It seems like yesterday as we danced the polkas and waltzes for all of Chicago land including President Johnson and Lady Bird. Everyone remarked at Marlene's stunning beauty and poise. She always had a dimple, a smile and displayed kindness to all. So many good times with her, those are the things I will remember.
My dad, who is now deceased, always loved to talk with her. She always took time to visit with him and listen to his stories. Marlene made everyone feel special. That was her unique quality. She was full of life.
Years have passed but the wonderful memories of Marlene will go on forever.
Ken, we are sorry for your loss. Her memory will be your strength.
